Refocus On Good

20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. ~ Ephesians 4:20-24

Jesus saves us, but we put off our own selves by refusing to think the way we used to and by not doing the things we used to. What does that mean? Whatever is false, wrong, evil, or wicked, we must lay those things aside and cling to what is pure, right, holy, true, and just. We must not only think about these things, but we must also put them into practice as well. This is the call of the Church. This is for all of us, not just the early Church.

Be Vigilant

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ 41 Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” ~ Matthew 25:31-46

There is coming a day of Judgment when Jesus will separate the sheep from the goats. The sheep He will place on His right, and the goats He will place on His left. To those on His right He will say, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” And they will enter eternal life.

But those on His left, he will say, “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Then those on His left will go away into eternal punishment (Matthew 25:31-46). What a sad and frightening day for those on His left.

Therefore, we must be vigilant and not fall asleep spiritually, because we do not know when our LORD and Savior will return. And it’s imperative that He finds us awake and doing what He has called us to do.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Be Vigilant.

Only Battle With Christ

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads. ~ Joshua 7:6

When the men went up to fight AI, they were deceived into thinking they had it covered, not realizing they had a breach in their armor. AI represents Adultery and Idolatry. The other important point to make is this. When Joshua sent the men up to fight, it never said he also sent the Ark of the Covenant.

What’s so important about the Ark? It represented the person, the presence, and the promises of God. It pointed to the fact that as the people of Israel set out to cross the Jordan, to invade, and possess the land, they must do so not in their own strength, but in God’s strength, for it was God Himself who was going before them as their source of victory. But in the case of AI, they wanted to fight that battle in their own strength. I tell you, it’s a losing battle.

So, what was the battle tactic that defeated AI? The first thing Joshua did was to seek the LORD. Therefore, that is the first thing we must do. When we run up against AI, we must immediately flee, then find a place of prayer and rebuke the enemy in the Name of Jesus.

They submitted themselves to God. If indeed you have fallen at AI, there is forgiveness in Jesus, yes, even at AI. The tearing of the clothes was associated with mourning, grief, and loss. It is a sign of true repentance. The only thing is, now it is no longer rending our garments, but rather, we rend our hearts, not our garments (Joel 2:13).

Therefore, let us put on the full armor of God so that in the day of adversity, we will be able to stand. Why? Because AI isn’t a battle, we can ever win on our own. It’s a battle that we can only overcome through the LORD Jesus Christ.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Only Battle With Christ.

7 The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. ~ Proverbs 29:7

17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. ~ James 4:17

In the show Avatar, there’s a main character by the name of Uncle Iroh. Now, Uncle Iroh was a military hero. He led siege after siege, taking over other tribes for the Fire Nation until he came to one particular city, Ba Sing Se. The siege lasted for 600 days but ended when Iroh lost his son, Lu Ten, in battle. After he lost his son, he no longer saw the necessity of the war, and he brought his men home. The rest of his life he spent trying to help others. We later find out that he lives his life trying to help others because he was unable to help his son.

He never saw a problem with leading the sieges, taking homes or lives, burning down cities until he lost what mattered most to him, his son. He simply bought into the lie that was told to him because he didn’t want to see the truth until the truth directly affected him in a traumatic way. So many of us in the Church are exactly the same way.

We don’t want to open our lives to the truth because we’re benefiting from the lie. Or we’re apathetic because the lie isn’t directly affecting us. But see, that’s how the enemy gets us. He doesn’t directly hit us at first. He allows us to get comfortable. To put our feet up. To turn a blind eye to little things until we’ve completely gone blind, and we don’t even realize it. Then, when we’re completely disarmed, he takes away all security and comfort we once had and suddenly the lie is no longer a big deal, it’s now directly negatively affecting us.

So, how do we combat this? We refuse to listen to apathy’s lullaby and by refusing to turn a blind eye to things, even if they seem minor. When someone else is done wrong, we stand up for them because if it could happen to them, it could happen to us. We can’t wait for the mob to be at our front door before we want to fight back. We need to fight back before they even enter our city. We need to wake up and pay attention to what’s going on in our world before it’s too late to do anything about it.

Remember Fathers Are Important

Proverbs 23:13-14,
13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. 14 If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol.
I recently saw a short (video a minute or less in length) that showed a mother taking her son to the home of a young girl he was with to confront the young girl’s father. The mother aggressively got in the father’s face telling him to not put his hands on her son again. The father tried to explain that he caught him in the bed with his daughter, but the mother kept saying it doesn’t matter. The father tried to further explain that he didn’t hit him, just roughed him up a bit and put him out.
This teenage boy is well over 6 inches taller than this father and well over the age of knowing better, but instead of taking him over there to apologize to the father for being disrespectful to him in his own house by being in bed with his daughter, she confronts the father.
There were thousands of comments. Many were in support of the father, but many were in support of the mother as well. In fact, many even went as far as to demand the young girl be put on blast too, but why? It wasn’t the father of the teenage girl that recorded the encounter to post on social media, it was the mother. Therefore, it is the mother’s son who she has placed as the focus of this video not the father’s daughter.
The only comments I saw defending the mother were women and one man (who grew up without a father in the home). It was a pattern of lack of fathers in the home that had any excuse for the this teenage boy and his mother. Fathers are crucial to society. They are needed in order for society to function orderly and properly. Why? Because mothers and fathers react differently to situations. A father disciplines, whereas a mother instructs.
When there was a group of wild young male elephants terrorizing an area, what did they do to correct the situation? They introduced strong adult male elephants. Why? Because men don’t coddle their children, especially not their sons, the way that a woman is more prone to. That is the importance of fathers in the home. Fathers perfectly balance the household so that there is both a strong and a soft arm in the household allowing our children, especially our sons, to grow up to respect others in society.

Pray For Open Eyes

15 Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, 16 but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness. ~ 2 Peter 2:15-16

Balaam was a prophet of God who was enticed by King Balak to curse the people of Israel. Balaam, however, refused, saying he could only bless the people of Israel because God blessed them. But the money had his heart desiring to do as the king requested. So, God told him to go on then to Balak, but on the way, the Angel of the LORD stood in his path. Balaam’s desire for the money had blinded his spiritual eyes, and he could not see the Angel of the LORD before him.

Matter-a-fact, Balaam even tried to go straight through the angel of the LORD but his donkey refused to go. So, what does Balaam do? He strikes his donkey. So, the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and the donkey spoke, “Why have you struck me these three times?” Balaam, of course, tells the donkey she (the donkey) is in the wrong, and he wishes he had a sword to kill him with. The donkey asks, “Am I not your donkey? Is it my habit to treat you like this?” Balaam responds with no. Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes to see what fate stood before him.

Though Balaam was a prophet of God who heard directly from God Himself, his eyes were shut to the LORD when He appeared before him to bring judgment for his ungodly desires that were taking hold of him. Even though we may be in high positions of authority or are spiritually in a high place hearing directly from God, that does not mean the things of this world cannot lead us astray.  That doesn’t mean our hearts cannot be corrupted, and we fall into a spiritual slumber, no longer seeing our own judgment that’s standing before us, so we lash out at the one who is trying to warn us.

This is one of the lessons of Balaam, you are never too big to fall. You may hear from God, but God may also be turning you over to your sinful desires if you allow them to consume you. Therefore, surround yourself with people like Balaam’s donkey who will try its best to maneuver you out of the way of judgment even when you yourself don’t see it.

Seek Your True Destiny

11 For I know the plans I have for you”  — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11CSB

Each person on earth has a destiny. A call from God Himself that He has laid on each life, but we each also have a Satanic call that the Devil has tried to distract and lead us astray with. How does the Devil confuse Christians? By disguising himself as an angel of light.

His plan for your life may not seem evil, dark, or wrong. In fact, it will most likely be a plan that seems good. A plan that is helpful to you, your family, and your community. The Devil rarely ever shows up as an evil red villain with horns, a pointy tail, and a pitchfork. He disguises himself as an angel of light.

Someone once said that the greatest lie the Devil ever told was that he doesn’t exist, but I don’t I agree with this statement at all. The greatest lie isn’t that Satan doesn’t exist, but that he isn’t evil. That he’s misunderstood and actually good. That he is in fact, on our side. That is the greatest lie the Devil has ever told.

Therefore, don’t let the Devil deceive you. Seek out God and His plan. Seek Christ and His voice so that you won’t be deceived by another voice. Get to the Good Shepherd, and He will protect you from the thief that comes to kill, steal, and destroy.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Seek Your True Destiny.

Don’t Focus On Them

11 But evil shall come upon you, which you will not know how to charm away; disaster shall fall upon you, for which you will not be able to atone; and ruin shall come upon you suddenly, of which you know nothing. ~ Isaiah 47:11

The Scriptures say, ‘But evil shall come upon you, which you will not know how to charm away.’ What does that mean? There is coming a day of reckoning. A day of dread for those who oppose the LORD. Those who live in open rebellion against Him and His laws.

Only those who have submitted to authority and to His rule will be acquitted. In other words, have their sins forgiven for all time. If you have submitted your life to Jesus by repenting of your sins and by following His commands, you are assured eternal life.

Therefore, don’t be discouraged or envious of the prospering of the wicked. One day, they will stand before the Judgment Seat of God and have to give an account of their lives to the LORD. They will then be separated from God for all eternity, while we who have followed Christ will spend eternity in peace with Him. Therefore, focus on Christ and seek Him. Don’t look at the world and all that it promises you because those promises won’t last. They will be but for a moment compared to eternity.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Don’t Focus On Them.

First Put On Your Oxygen Mask

1 Corinthians 9:27
[27] But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

If you’ve ever been on a plane, you’ve heard the flight attendants tell you “in case of an emergency, put on your oxygen mask before assisting a child or another person in need.” This line of thinking can also be applied to salvation.

We can’t try to save others unless we ourselves are saved. Why? Because if our oxygen runs out, we’re no help to anyone, not even ourselves. We’ve now become a liability for someone else. A burden for someone else to have to carry because without oxygen we are asleep. If, LORD forbid, the plane goes down, we risk drowning if we don’t have the oxygen mask on.

Everything that we could have helped with, now we are needing help with, and therefore, adding to the stress of others. Therefore, secure your own salvation first, and then the Holy Spirit will be your oxygen mask. He will guide you, protect you, and keep you, as you lead others to Christ.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and First Put On Your Oxygen Mask.

All In Plain View

37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. (Acts 10:37–38)

The things Peter began to explain to Cornelius, and to those he had gathered in his home to hear what Peter had to say about Jesus, were things that they already knew. He said, “You yourselves know what happened throughout Judea.” What Jesus did was not obscure. He did not do His good works in secret so that no one knew what was going on. Instead, He Himself testified to the high priest when he questioned Him about His disciples and His teaching, “I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret.”

The things Jesus did were all done in the open and in public spaces, He did nothing in secret or in hiding. Everything was done in plain view for all to see. Therefore, when the testimony of the early Church was proclaimed, those who heard could easily verify what was being said because everything was done in plain view for all to see. That means that the letters and the accounts that we now have were written down by eye witnesses and verified by those who were there and could testify to the authenticity of the reliable accounts. Therefore, we have no need to feel unsure or skeptical about what was handed down to us.

We, today’s Church, the body of Christ, must do the same. We must let our light shine so that others may see and glorify our Father who is in heaven. But Today’s Christian is obscur; it’s like they are in hiding, and so they go unnoticed. I used to work with a certain woman who turned out to be a Christian woman. I had no clue that she was. She didn’t partake in any of the office gossip or anything like that. She just kept to her, never spoke about her faith, and she didn’t seem to be very happy. I later found out that she was a Christian.

What I’m encouraging you to do today is share the Gospel with someone. Smile, let others see your joy because the joy of the LORD is our strength. Encourage others, be light in your dark corner of your world. For the love that you show will be the love that someone else needs, just like the light that you shine is the light that will cause someone else to see and not to stumble. Be like Jesus who did all His good works in plain sight for all to see, and so did His followers.

Father, help us to show Your Son Jesus in our day to day actions and proclaim His Name in our day to day interactions. We want to be a witness for You, but we cannot be a witness in silence. Therefore, give us boldness to speak loud and proud about the goodness of Jesus. Thank You Jesus for Your bold statements. Help us to be like You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
