16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. ~ II Corinthians 5:16NKJV
There’s currently a video of a self-proclaimed prophet going viral right now for his wife introducing her husband’s (the self-proclaimed prophet) second wife to their congregation. He recently posted on social media that it’s unbiblical to have only one wife. He even went as far as to say that Paul’s qualifications for an overseer, sometimes translated as bishop, don’t apply to him as he isn’t a bishop. The office of overseer would include a pastor, I’d even go as far as to say it includes a prophet, which is why Paul was able to write so many letters addressing the complaints from various churches. Because he was overseeing them. So, as a pastor and self-proclaimed prophet, how can you say that 1 Timothy 3 has nothing to do with you? It’s the requirement of both an overseer and a deacon, so how can you say you don’t fit either, as a pastor and self-proclaimed prophet?
When we live by our flesh, instead of the Spirit of God, we see Christ according to our flesh. We’ll read His Word and twist it in order to justify our own sin. We’ll harden our heart so that we no longer feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit. And in doing so, we give an open door to the enemy to give us dreams and visions and revelations not of God, but of darkness, convincing us we’re doing what is good.
23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Matthew 6:23 NKJV
