Watchman What Time of the Night?

In the Church today, many of us have lost the Spirit of Discernment. We can no longer discern the signs of the times, and instead of seeking that discernment, we shrug it off. Some say no one can know the mind of God and move on. While others don’t believe it’s up to them to witness, teach, or warn another soul, so it doesn’t matter anyway. But is this how the body of Christ is to think and behave? Are we called out of the world to just stay to ourselves, or is there more to the call of us Christians? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes in his heart-wrenching message, Watchman What Time of the Night?

Watchman, What Time of the Night?

Are Christians Watchmen?

Because we live under the New and Better Covenant filled with grace, many disregard the entire Old Testament. But the entire Old Testament isn’t the Law, and neither should we just disregard the Law completely. For the Law was a shadow of things to come. There is much to still learn from the Law. But with that said, take a look at what God warns Ezekiel.

17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 18 If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Church Under Attack Pt. 4: The Religion of Science

Scientists claim that we are a small insignificant planet in a small insignificant galaxy spiraling through an ever-expanding Universe. So, where does that leave us? Why would God create man in His own image, die for all of mankind, and seemingly create everything for us if we are so insignificant? How do these Scientific facts compare with Biblical facts? Do Science and Scripture Contradict?

Does the earth orbit the sun?

According to Scripture, the sun was created on the fourth day and then placed in the firmament.

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth”; and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Genesis 1:14-19

Never does it mention the earth orbiting or moving, but it does mention the sun rising and setting and moving across the heavens.

The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.

Ecclesiastes 1:5

So, if science directly contradicts Scripture and some still choose science over Scripture, then science has become your god, your source of religion.

Science Contradicts Scripture’s Four Corners of the Earth

11 and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth.

Acts 10:11

1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.

Watchmen Where Are You?

17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came and said, “I see a company.” And Joram said, “Take a horseman and send to meet them, and let him say, ‘Is it peace?’ ” 18 So a man on horseback went to meet him and said, “Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’ ” And Jehu said, “What do you have to do with peace? Turn around and ride behind me.” And the watchman reported, saying, “The messenger reached them, but he is not coming back.” 19 Then he sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, “Thus the king has said, ‘Is it peace?’ ” And Jehu answered, “What do you have to do with peace? Turn around and ride behind me.” 20 Again the watchman reported, “He reached them, but he is not coming back. And the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.” ~ 2 Kings 9:17–20

The Hebrew word (ṣā·p̄ā(h)), translated watchman, means:
keep watch, be a lookout,
i.e., intently watch a situation using primarily the eye-gate, but possibly also using other senses, implying a future hope or expectation.

Jesus told us to watch and pray. By this, He made the Christians watchmen on the wall, so to speak. We are to announce good, and we are to announce bad. We are to announce friends, and we are to announce enemies. We are to announce peace, and we are to announce war.

It is our responsibility to protect the flock from potential dangers and warn of surprise attacks from the enemy. Therefore, it is our job to keep watch and to warn the body of Christ of impending dangers and threats.

We are to watch for approaching friends and let our fellow Christians know they are friends. We are likewise to watch for approaching enemies and sound the alarm that an enemy is approaching.

Not only this, but it is the watchman’s responsibility to warn the people on behalf of God when they are straying or falling away from His impending judgment. We are to warn them to turn from their wicked or their compromising ways and return to God.

It is a serious and crucial responsibility that we have and one we should not take lightly. Therefore, blow the trumpet and sound the alarm; danger and enemies disguised as friends are all around us. Warn the people of God, watchmen.

Father, give Your watchmen wisdom and understanding to recognize enemies from friends, danger from peace, and the prudence to act accordingly. Grant us boldness and confidence to warn, advise, and caution the body of Christ. Bless Your people LORD and watch over them as they climb the mountains and cross the valleys. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Deception Pt. 2: The Devil’s in the Details

Throughout history, the Devil has set the same trap for us over and over again, only changing his bait to fit the times, and we keep falling for it. He hides the evil in plain sight, knowing that we will overlook it if it is seemingly innocent enough, but Paul tells us that we are not unaware of the Devil’s schemes. He has made the Spirit of Discernment available to us; we need only ask. The Devil’s in the Details

Deception in the Bible

11 And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:11-16

As a Christian, we aren’t meant to be deceived by the deceitful schemes of the Devil. This is why we are meant to build our faith so that we can see through the lies of the enemy and all of his deception.

Spirit of Discernment

For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:8-10

The Spirit of Discernment gives us the ability to see through the deceitful schemes of the devil and his followers. We can see through his bait and traps by the Holy Spirit. This helps us to distinguish between the spirits of good and evil.

Deception Pt. 1: Falling Asleep

Throughout the years, movies and tv shows have become darker and darker. Even more so in our children’s movies that are now filled with demons, incantations, conjurings, curses, spells, witchcraft, and more. Is this something that should alarm the Church, or is that just progress because this is the way the culture is going? Is freedom to take part in witchcraft and magic something the Church should back and/or support, or should we make a stand against these changes that causes us to fall spiritually asleep? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he sheds some light on this controversial subject in his message, Deception Pt. 1: Falling Asleep.

Falling Asleep Because of Deception

Warning Against Deception in the Bible

Falling spiritually asleep can be the cause of many Christians’ failure to finish the race set before them. They become lulled asleep by the deception of the World. They bought the lie that because people are trying to shift the culture a certain way for progress. But all of these sins have been outlined in the Bible.

16 Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; 17 then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.

Deuteronomy 11:16-17

24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on earth.

Revelation 18:24

Witchcraft in the Bible

16 And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal. 17 And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. 18 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but the tribe of Judah only.

2 Kings 17:16-18

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

Necromancy in the Bible

Necromancy is talking or communicating with the dead.

If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.

Is Science Always Right?

Our world is ruled by two sets of beliefs: a belief based on faith in God or a belief based on faith in science. These two belief systems rule our world. Science Vs. The Bible

Creation vs. Evolution

Science

Human evolution, the process by which human beings developed on Earth from now-extinct primates.

Britannica.com

According to science, humans evolved from primates. In other words, apes. How does this match up with the Bible?

The Bible

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 1:26-27

According to the Genesis account, the Theory of Evolution is a direct contradiction to the Bible. So, if science got this wrong, is it possible they got other things wrong as well?

Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

What or Who Is the Word of God?

According to John, the Word of the LORD is God, but does that make sense? Is the Word God, or is the Word just an ‘it’, not an actual entity or person? Is this Word the light or life that the LORD God used to create everything we see and everything we don’t see? Or is there more to the story since Jesus said He (and His Father) is the light and life? Join ArieRashelle as she searches through Scripture to answer the question, What or Who Is the Word of God?

The Word of the LORD

The Word is God

John 1:1 says, 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Here are a couple of instances of the Word of the LORD declaring Himself to be the LORD God.

1 After these things the Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

And He said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”

Genesis 15:1, 7

10 The Word of the Lord came to Samuel: 11 “I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments.” And Samuel was angry, and he cried to the Lord all night.

1 Samuel 15:10-11

Whenever the Word of the LORD comes to someone, it’s as an actual living entity declaring to be the LORD God. This is because the Word of the LORD isn’t just God speaking, but it’s the LORD God Himself. The Word of the LORD is one of the members of the God-Head, the Trinity.

The Word is the Creator

According to John 1:3, All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. Here are a couple of instances of the LORD God saying He is the only creator.

I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the Lord, who does all these things.

11 Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him: Ask me of things to come; will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands? 12 I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.

Isaiah 45:5-7, 11-12

Give them this charge for their masters: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: This is what you shall say to your masters: “It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.”’

Jeremiah 27:4-5

According to the LORD God, He is the sole creator of all things. Therefore, if the Word of the LORD created all things, then He is one of the members of the God-Head.

The Word is Light and Life

John 1:4 says, In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The Word of the LORD is light and life, which is eerily similar to what Jesus said about Himself. Here are few instances of Jesus saying that He is the light and life.

The Life

25 Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself. 27 And He has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

John 5:25-27

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:1-3

The Light

35 So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”

John 12:35-36

44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in Him who sent me. 45 And whoever sees me sees Him who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”

John 12:44-46

The Word of the LORD is Jesus. Jesus is the light and life of the World. Jesus is the Creator. And most importantly, Jesus is God. The Word of the LORD is the light and life because the Word of the LORD is Jesus, the Son of God.

Seek the Spirit of God

12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. ~ Proverbs 14:12

Something is wrong when a Christian can go for days or even weeks without any type of prayer or any type of worship and feel nothing.

A few weeks ago, we had our granddaughter visiting us, and we were busy doing vacation stuff. Needless to say, I did not have my regular time in prayer. After a few days, I felt like something was terribly wrong. I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach like something dreadful was about to happen.

I had to get out of my bed at 3:30 in the morning and go to my prayer couch and kneel down and spend some time in prayer. It was only after that that the feeling subsided. We should be convicted when we do not spend time with our God.

Something is wrong when Christians can vote for killing innocent babies and fight for rights that are an abomination to God because it is the right of their affiliate political party.

We chose to side with man and offend God because of politics, race, ethnicity, or anything else.

You know something is wrong when a Christian can sit through an hour and a half of nasty, dirty movies without even the slightest bit of uneasiness, much less conviction. They can sit through movies and tv shows that use the name of their God as a cuss word and feel no way about it. Something is wrong.

I saw an interview where some guy went around and asked random people who identified as born-again believers if they had changed the kinds of movies they watched. They had no problem with watching movies with sex scenes, cussing, F-bombs, and using the name of the LORD our God as a cussword. They had no problem with none of it.

They indicated that they had no problem with it and would not change what they watched. Our hearts have grown cold. We’ve lost the discernment of the Holy Spirit. How can we be sure? When we are no longer offended by the things of the world that offend God, then we’ve lost our spiritual discernment.

But if we spend time with God. Read our bible. Make time to pray and worship. Go to church and immerse ourselves in the things of God; we will see that spark begin to light in our lives again. We’ll begin to hear the Spirit of God guiding us again.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Seek the Spirit of God.

There’s Something Wrong

In today’s world, we are becoming more and more spiritually unaware. Those subtle gut feelings that we once had have slowly dwindled. We used to feel convicted over sin, but now we fully embrace sin without even second-guessing it. If it feels good, do it. Do as thou wilt has become the law, which doesn’t sound too bad. If we’re not feeling convicted, shouldn’t it be okay? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the importance of discernment in his fiery message, There’s Something Wrong.

Spiritual Conviction

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

John 16:7-11

23 If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.
