Leave His Feet

11 On the way to Jerusalem He was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He entered a village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance 13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” 14 When He saw them He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. ~ Luke 17:11-14

Ten lepers came to Jesus begging for mercy. They came to Him in faith and humility, crying out with a loud voice. They even declared who Jesus was by calling Him master, but none of that mattered until they obeyed in faith and walked away. It wasn’t until they stepped out in faith and walked to the priests to be checked that they were healed. See, even though they went to Jesus in faith, they had to first leave Jesus in faith in order to receive their healing.

When they left to go present themselves to the priests, they were still sick. They were still ten lepers when they left Jesus; it wasn’t until they started walking a little distance that they received their healing. It was a test of their faith. This is how it is with some of us today. Some of us are at Jesus’ feet, begging for our healing, declaring who Jesus is, crying out for mercy, while Jesus is telling us to get up and show ourselves to the priests. Go to the doctor. Get your checkup. But we’re still at His feet, begging for healing and mercy. So, many of us miss out on our healing because we’re too afraid to leave Jesus’ feet in faith. Sometimes, this is the only way we can be healed, so don’t let fear or doubt keep you from your healing. Walk out in faith.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Leave His Feet.

Trust Him Even In Prison

Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.” ~ Matthew 11:2-6

John was sent by God to prepare the way for the LORD. He proclaimed to the masses that Jesus was the Messiah. That Jesus was the promised Christ. Even though John had preached to the masses and baptized many, his faith was shaken when he was at the end of his life. See, Jesus was healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, and preaching love everywhere He went while John was chained up in prison. The Jews had preconceived ideas about who the Messiah was and how He was to save or redeem Israel. They expected the Messiah to overthrow the Roman Empire that was oppressing the Jews and to take His rightful place as King of kings and LORD of lords, yet Jesus didn’t do this. This caused many to doubt Him, including John, who led the way for Him and even baptized Him.

Today we face this same dilemma. We have our own preconceived notions of who Jesus is and how He would react to things without first taking the time to get to know Him. We no longer search for the Truth; now, we search for those who tickle our ears and validate our own biases. We’d rather stay chained up in a spiritual prison than to seek the Truth of God that will set us free because we don’t want to give something up. Oftentimes, we ignore the Truth of who Jesus is because we don’t want to fight the good fight. Because we want to stay in our own filth and muck where we’re comfortable and have a false sense of safety.

Other times it’s because we desire a Jesus that will bring judgment and punishment on our enemies, as I believe John did. It’s easy to be upset with God when He seems so distant, and everything around us seems like it’s falling apart, but always remember that God works all things out for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Don’t allow your own idea of who you think Jesus should be cause you to miss out on who He is and be caught unawares and sleeping when He returns.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Trust Him Even In Prison.

Accept Your Promise By Faith

19 Everyone tried to touch Him, because healing power went out from Him, and He healed everyone. ~ Luke 6:19

All who touched Jesus in faith were healed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Not one who had faith was disappointed; all were healed. 2,000 years later, Jesus is no longer physically walking around His people. Instead, He is living inside of us and through us. His Holy Spirit, by whom He was filled with power and healed the sick, is with us and in us as well. So how much easier should it be for us to get our healing in today’s world, yet we rarely see healing today.

The Church is filled with sickness and disease, yet we have God Himself dwelling inside of us. The Church should be able to claim the promise ‘By His stripes, we have been healed.’ We have this as a promise from God, but it’s up to us to take hold of the promise and accept it by faith. It’s all been paid for. The only way we can be healed is if we have the faith that we will be healed.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Accept Your Promise By Faith.

What Manner of Man is This Pt. 1: Master of the Storm

In a world that seems to continue to hopelessness, how can we, Christians, have faith? How can we continue to believe that God will fulfill every promise even when everything around us seems to say otherwise? What kind of faith do Christians need to be able to see the promises of God fulfilled, and how do we get that kind of faith? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the power of the Storm Calmer (the Prince of Peace) in his message, What Manner of Man is This Pt. 1: Master of the Storm.

Master of the Storm

What Manner of Man is Jesus?

Jesus is the Storm Calmer

23 And when He was entered into a ship, His disciples followed Him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. 25 And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And He saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!

Matthew 8:23-27

Jesus is The Prince of Peace

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 9:5-7

Jesus didn’t leave us alone; He has given us His peace that we might overcome every obstacle in our way.

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27

Promises of God

God promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He promises that He will always be with us, and when a storm comes our way, He is our strong tower, for He is the master of all storms.

10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10

24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:24-27

…He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:5-6

Don’t allow the storms to overcome you. Hold tightly to your faith in The Storm Calmer, The Master of the Storm.

Walk Not By Sight

1 And He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” ~ Luke 18:1-8

It can become wearing to pray about a specific situation over and over again, year in and year out, without sewing even a sign of your prayers being answered. But the LORD promises that if we continue to be faithful, He will move on our behalf at just the right time. We have to remember that God isn’t slow to fulfill His promises as we count slowness, but He fulfills them at just the right time. So, we can be sure that if we continue to stay faithful in prayer, we will get our answer, even if it is many years later.

It’s clear in the verses above that if we are persistent, the LORD will hear our cry and answer our prayers. Even though it feels like we live in a hopeless world, this isn’t to lose faith. This is the time to press in and fight even harder for our God-given dreams and calls. This is the time to show God we are faithful in the good and in the bad because we understand that there is nothing without Him.

Always remember that God is faithful, and our job is to trust Him at all costs. Even when we don’t see Him moving, we have to have faith and believe that He is. Peace. Love. Go Forth and Walk Not By Sight.

Stay By The Pool

Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. ~ John 5:2-9

One Sabbath, there was a man who had been ill for 38 years and had given up all faith. So by the time Jesus comes by and asks if he wants to be healed, the man only responds with why he can’t be healed. He had the hope that he could be healed because he remained by the pool all of those years, but when he was faced with the question of whether he wanted to be healed, he couldn’t get passed the years he never received his healing. Doubt had taken route deep within. He had the hope but not the faith. Sometimes, this is his we are today.

When we go through trials and tribulations, it’s easy for us to become defeated and discouraged, but we can’t lose faith. Each day that goes by without our miracle can be hard, but we have to remember that God never shows up late. God always shows up at just the right time, so don’t lose faith. Continue to have the hope that you will receive what you are hoping for.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Stay By the Pool.

Say Who He Is

14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” ~ Matthew 16:14NKJV

2,000 years ago, some said Jesus was John the Baptist; others said Jesus was Elijah or Jeremiah. This hasn’t changed today. Some say Jesus was a good man. Some say He was a prophet. Others believe He was another religious or spiritual leader like Mohammed or the Buddha. But most of the younger generation don’t believe in His divinity at all. In fact, most don’t believe in Him at all.

The fact of the matter is that it doesn’t matter who people say Jesus was or is because we each have to stand before God on Judgment Day. No one can stand before God for you. So, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, only what you believe. So while the world is against Him and denies who He is, who will you say He is?

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Say Who He Is.

Have Faith In The Wilderness

2 And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that He might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. ~ Deuteronomy 8:2ESV

The Israelites struggled with their faith from the moment they left Egypt. We often judge this, but when we look at it for what it is, we can see that it’s no different with us today. When we are in our slavery to sin, we cry out to God, but as soon as He saves us, we grumble, complain, and doubt that He can keep us from temptation and sin. This is how the Israelites were as well. They saw miracle after miracle from God Almighty, yet fear and doubt still took root in their hearts and caused them to have to wander the wilderness for forty years.

But their story didn’t end there. God didn’t give up on them. He still led them and was with them wherever they went. He never left them. And along the way, He continued testing them, I believe, getting them prepared for their restoration. Their failure and lack of faith didn’t stop His plans for them. Those who weren’t willing to be molded missed the promised land, but the next generation that was willing to listen to God didn’t. The plan of God wasn’t tarnished, nor did it fail. It was brought to fruition because His Word never fails.

Today God still calls mankind and has plans for us all, but it’s up to us to trust Him and have faith that He is able to fulfill that which He has spoken to us. He will be with us despite the wilderness, the obstacles, the mountains, and during this, He will be testing us and humbling us on the way, preparing us for the fulfillment and restoration. He’s preparing us for our promised land. So, hang on to His Word. Hold tightly to His promises. Don’t allow fear to hold you back because the LORD is with you wherever you go. You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to have faith in Him.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Have Faith In The Wilderness.

Touch The Fringe

56 And wherever He came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored Him that they might touch even the fringe of His garment. And as many as touched it were made well. ~ Mark 6:56ESV

Jesus went into places and could only very few people and perform very few miracles, yet in other places, all they needed was the fringe of His garment. Why? In one word, faith. They were confident in who Jesus was, while the others wavered. They didn’t have to beg or pray over and over again to be healed. They didn’t even need to speak to Jesus directly. They had the faith to accept their healing because, by His stripes, they are healed. They claimed that promise for themselves in faith.

Today we have a similar promise; by His stripes, we have been healed. We’ve already been healed. The price has already been paid. All we have to do is accept it. All we have to do is step out in faith. We don’t have to have the most eloquent tongue or the most righteous of walks. All we have to do is have faith it is possible.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Touch The Fringe.

Where’s Your Trust?

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. ~ James 1:5-8NLT

Wavering in our faith in God, according to James, makes us as unstable as the waves being thrown by the wind. Why? Because when we don’t trust in God, we’re trusting in something else. It may not seem like it, but we have to have faith or trust in something. Either God or the world. Either life or death. Fear or love. How we live our lives will determine in whom we trust.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Trust In God.
