Be Filled With The Spirit

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

God just takes it for granted that you can have some comprehension of how great and awesome He is. If we can only understand the concept of:

    • How much we mean to Him
    • How much He loves us
    • How powerful He is
    • There’ll be no stopping us

If only we can but get a hold of that, we will have complete boldness and confidence. We would be fearless, even in the face of death.

Fear is not of God. Fear is from the devil. God did not give us the spirit of fear. When we dwell in fear, we don’t dwell in love. And if we don’t dwell in love, we don’t dwell in God. The moment we let go of our fear and allow ourselves to fully trust God, we will be able to dwell in His presence. We will no longer have a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Be Filled With The Spirit.

Abide in the Arms of the Almighty

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7KJV

We cannot operate in power when we walk in fear. Because you cannot cast out or drive out what you are afraid of. You will run from what you fear, just like the Israelites ran from Goliath because they feared him greatly.

You cannot cast out, drive out, or overcome what you fear! Fear is a form of weakness that leads to distrust. When we distrust God, our faith dwindles. And as our faith dwindles, our relationship with God dwindles. The Spirit of Fear tries to dominate us and put us into submission so that it can separate us from God. Because if we are separate from God, Fear and other evil spirits can wreak havoc in our lives freely.

But if we stand firmly in faith because we know whom we serve, then we become more than conquerors. Then no weapon formed against us can prosper. Because now we are working, living, and abiding in the love, protection, and arms of the Almighty. So, trust God because He will never leave you, nor will He forsake you.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Abide in the Arms of the Almighty.

Live As Children of God

21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, 22 but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for silver and gold jewelry, and for clothing. You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians. ~ Exodus 3:21-22

When God led the Israelites out of Egypt, He didn’t lead them out empty-handed; He led them out with the jewelry and clothing of the very people who were enslaving and mistreating them. While the people of Israel were in the land of Egypt, they were slaves and paupers, but when God led them out, He led them out rich. Now, I’m not saying that God wants or is going to make us all rich; neither am I saying He isn’t. I’m saying we were spiritual slaves. We were spiritual paupers, but God, in His love and mercy, stepped off of His throne and led us out of the spiritual land of Egypt by saving us from our slave master, sin.

We are now rich in Christ Jesus. We are no longer slaves or paupers but sons and daughters of the Most High God. We were once poor in spirit; now, we are filled with the Spirit of God that heals, casts out fear, protects us, guides us, strengthens us, and empowers us through Christ Jesus. Be encouraged today, for the God of the Universe has freed you from your chains of sin, fear, depression, etc. He has freed you from all strongholds; all you have to do is repent and accept your freedom in Christ Jesus.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Live As Children of God.

No Fear

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. ~ 1 John 4:18

We can’t operate in power when we walk in fear. Likewise, we cannot operate in fear if we walk in love. They will know us by our love. Because we love each other, and we love others, even those who hate us and say all manner of evil against us, we must love them still. And the last point is a sound mind.

In other words, God has given us the Spirit of self-discipline, with an implication that this discipline demonstrates prudence and wisdom. We are no longer free to act any old way or react any old way; we have a holy protocol to follow. And when we follow this holy protocol, fear no longer has a hold on us because we are walking in the steps of Jesus surrounded by the Almighty.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and No Fear.

Put Your Faith In The Almighty

Have I not commanded you? Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9

God in all of His providence has said, “Do Not Be Afraid!” But I want you to look closer; He did not just say it; He commanded it. God is very serious about fear. But why so serious, God? Because fear is a form of weakness that leads to mistrust. God says, “Be strong and courageous and Do Not Be Afraid!” Why is this so important to God?

Because fear is the opposite of faith. Make no mistake; weakness is stemmed from mistrust. You cannot trust someone and fear the results of their decisions. The Scripture says that it is impossible to please God without faith. When we don’t have faith, we’re not just being weak; we’re calling God weak.

We’re saying that He can’t protect us from our fears. We’re saying He is easily overcome. We’re saying He isn’t the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the King of kings, or LORD of lords. We’re saying He isn’t the Almighty.

Faith is trusting in God and who He is. You build your faith by spending time with God and in His Word.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Put Your Faith In The Almighty.

Give All

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him. ~ 1 Kings 19:19-21

The Chicken and the Pig were passing a church on a country road, where they saw a sign reading:

Charity meals for the poor, please contribute.

“Sounds like a worthy cause; let’s contribute a ham-and-egg breakfast.” Said the Chicken to the Pig.

“Madam, for you that would be a contribution, for me a total commitment.” Responded the Pig, thoughtfully.

When we follow Jesus, it can’t just be a contribution. It has to be a total commitment. We can’t follow Jesus and follow science because it’s more updated, as well as the Buddhist teachings for zen, or any other teaching. We can only follow one at a time. We can’t follow Jesus as well as other people. There is only one Good Shepherd. There can only be one shepherd leading the sheep. You can only have one God.

When we say we are Christians and we follow Christ, we have to follow Him with everything in us. We have to give Him our all. We can’t give Him a half offering like Cain. We have to give Him our very best. God is a jealous God. Why? We are His bride. If He wasn’t jealous of us cheating on Him with sin, there would be a problem.

Christianity is a relationship. It’s all or nothing.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Give All.

Live As Christ

1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. ~ Proverbs 14:1

We often quote this verse when speaking to or about people who don’t believe in God, but is that really what Solomon is talking about? On the surface, we could say a fool is anyone who believes that there is no God. But let’s take a closer look at what the verse says, 1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” The fool says in his HEART, not his mind. We can say we believe that there is a God. We can even say that we believe in the one and only God. The God of Israel, but that doesn’t mean that we have not said in our heart there is no God.

See, from our heart comes our actions. If our actions are sinful and evil, then our heart says that there is no God. There is no punishment, no judgment for our sins. We were all once fools, even if we grew up in Church. Even if we were never atheists, we were all once sinners. It’s not about what you say; it’s about the way you act. The way you live your life. So, if we don’t want to live as fools, then we must live our lives for Christ. We have to live as Christ lived His.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Live As Christ.

Cry Out With a Loud Voice

And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before Him. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” For He was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” 10 And he begged Him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, 12 and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” 13 So He gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea. ~ Mark 5:6-13

Jesus came to a country and was walking around minding His own business when a demon-possessed man sees Him from afar, runs towards Him, and falls at His feet begging for mercy. Now what I find absolutely mind-blowing is the fact that Jesus actually stops casting out the demon to not only listen but to agree to his petition. Keep in mind these are demons whom James said just shutter because they know God is real. They’re unredeemable, evil beings that shutter just at the existence of God. They have no relationship with Him, yet they humbled themselves at His feet and begged for mercy. And you know what Jesus did, He granted their request.

Just let that sink in for a second. Demons who are damned to Hell, who have no relationship or right to even be in His presence, bowed at His feet and begged for mercy. If these demons could receive their petition, how much more could we, sons and daughters of the Most High, receive what we ask God for. Too often, we allow ourselves to become discouraged when we don’t get the answer we want right away. We no longer have the patience to run to Jesus, humble ourselves at His feet, and petition until He hears us. Sometimes we have to press in. Sometimes we have to fight through the noise because when we do, our prayers get answered. Miracles happen. Loved ones are saved.

We aren’t demons. We aren’t damned with no hope. We are sons and daughters of the Most High. We are seated with Him in Heavenly places. We are the redeemed. We overcome because He overcame. He lives in us, with us, and through us. We are the body of the Living God. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t let your heart be troubled. Run to Jesus, crying out with a loud voice. Petition your God. Believe that you will be heard, and you will be.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Cry Out With a Loud Voice.

Look Through God’s Eyes

18 For through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. ~ Ephesians 10:18-21

I was watching a show once, and it was a mother and daughter having a conversation. The daughter was telling her mother how she was nothing special. How her mother was great, was royalty, but she wasn’t. She wasn’t fearless, brave, or strong like she was. Her father was a no-one, so she was a no-one. That’s when her mother looked at her and said, you are my daughter. My blood runs through your veins, the moment you realize that is the moment things will change. That’s exactly how it is with us today. We are sons and daughters of God Most High, yet we hold on to our past as if it defines who we are today.

We may have scars from the wounds that have been healed. We may have scars from the sin we have been redeemed from, but they do not define us. We are defined by the one who healed us. The one who saved us. It isn’t us who saves, redeems, or heals ourselves or anyone else for that matter. It is Jesus. It’s by Jesus that we are saved, redeemed, healed. It is through Jesus that we are called sons and daughters of the Most High God. The moment we realize we are no longer our past but are a new creation in Christ Jesus, adopted sons and daughters of God Almighty, is the moment we will see who we truly are. That’s the moment we will see ourselves the way that God sees us.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Look Through God’s Eyes.

Fight For Your Eternity

12b …for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. ~ 2 Timothy 1:12b

We know whom we have believed. We know where we are going. We are all working towards that. One day Jesus is going to split the eastern sky, riding on a white stallion and a two-edged sword protruding out of His mouth with which He will smite the rebellious nations. He will set up His throne in the Temple and rule the nations with an iron rod for a thousand years. Then He will make a new earth for us, where He Himself will dwell among us for all eternity.

Just think. Peace and justice for all. No one to make us afraid. No one to persecute us. A time of praising and glorifying God. This is what we are working towards. Complete and absolute freedom from all sin, temptation, pain, suffering, anger, grief, etc. We are working towards being at peace with God for all eternity.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Fight For Your Eternity.
