Show Me The Way Pt. 3: Light of the World

Jesus said that as long as He was in the world, He was the Light of the World. Jesus is no longer here. We, the Church, are now His representatives on this earth. Jesus has now called us to be the Light of the World. So what does that mean for us? How can the Church be the Light of the World? Show Me The Way

Light of the World

1 As he passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 9:1-5

13 You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Show Me The Way Pt. 2: Salt to Self

We, the Church, are the Salt of the Earth. That means that we’re to disinfect and fertilize the Church. Jesus poses the question, “Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again?” What does it mean for salt to lose its saltiness? And how do we, the Church, make sure we don’t lose our saltiness? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the deeper importance of salt in his message, Show Me The Way Pt. 2: Salt to Self.

Matthew 5:13

42 Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.

Show Me The Way Pt. 1: Fertilize and Disinfect

Jesus commanded the Church (the body of Christ, His followers) to be the Salt of the Earth. Today, this seems like a very odd command. What good is salt? Many doctors and influencers today tell us that salt is bad for us. So, why should we, the Church, be the Salt of the Earth? What does that mean for us? 13 You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

Matthew 5:13

1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.’” Now John wore a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

Matthew 3:1-6

34 Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored?

Luke 14:34

19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

The LORD’s Favorable Grace

We are saved by grace through faith. Throughout Scripture, we’re told of the LORD’s favor and His grace. What is the LORD’s favor and grace exactly, and how do we attain them? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes in his encouraging message, The LORD’s Favorable Grace.

The LORD’s Favorable Grace

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Luke 4:18-19

For He says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love; by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

Dying To Self Pt. 2: It’s Not About Us

As the Church, we are called to be the body of Christ. We are His arms, feet, eyes, and ears here on this earth. But is one more important than the other? If we are all given gifts, is one gift more important than the other? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he brings his eye-opening message, Dying To Self Pt. 2: It’s Not About Us.

Dying To Self

It’s Not About Us

15 We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; 16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. 19 For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:15-20

Paul explained that he was crucified (spiritually) with Christ. Therefore every day, Paul was dying to self. It was no longer he that lived, but Christ that lived through him. He even went on to say that to live is Christ. It’s not about you. It’s not about us. It’s about Christ. And we are His body here on this earth.

15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.

The Patriots

July 4th, Independence Day, is the celebration of America’s official freedom from the tyranny of its motherland, Great Britain. Today, we, the American people, take this day for granted. Christians aren’t even sure if we should be patriotic to our country anymore. Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he shares his eye-opening message, The Patriots.

The Patriots

Patriotism is the love of one’s country. Our country is our inheritance from God. How can we, as Christians, not do anything but be patriotic to the country our God has given us?

When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when He divided mankind, He fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.

Deuteronomy 32:8

1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Dying To Self Pt. 1: It’s Not About You

Today it’s difficult to differentiate between the world and the Church. The sheep, goats, and wolves all seem to blend into one fold that we can’t seem to separate and distinguish between anymore. The Church no longer sees signs, wonders, miracles, or healings, why? Is there something the Church needs to do that we aren’t doing? What’s holding back the Church from seeing the glory of God as Moses and the early Church did? 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:15-20

Dad, You Matter

Today, in this ever-darkening world, the need for and importance of a father is seeming to dwindle. Fathers are mocked on tv and portrayed only as stupid, dumb, useless, clueless, and often the source of the problem the strong, brave, brilliant, super-like mom has to fix. Is this how we are to treat and portray our fathers? Do fathers matter to God? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the importance and necessity of fathers in his Father’s Day message, Dad, You Matter.

Ephesians 6:1-4
Nehemiah 4:14

Dad, You Matter

Dad, your role as the father is important; you matter. You cannot be replaced. You have an essential part to play in the raising of your children, never forget that.

14 And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”

Nehemiah 4:14

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:1-4

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day.

2 Timothy 1:1-3

1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. There were born to him seven sons and three daughters. He possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500 female donkeys, and very many servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east. His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and consecrate them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did continually.

Jacob and Esau

29 Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was exhausted. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.) 31 Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.” 32 Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?” 33 Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

The Promise of Pentecost

2,000 years ago, 120 disciples of Jesus sat in the Upper Room praying and waiting, in accord, for the promise of the Holy Spirit. It was Pentecost Sunday, around 9 am, when the power of God rushed into the Upper Room like a mighty rushing wind. Tongues of fire rested upon each and every head. The promise of the Holy Spirit had come. Pentecost had been fulfilled. 2,000 years later, we take all of this for granted. We don’t fully grasp what that meant for the Church and the world that day. The Holy Spirit

The Promise of The Holy Spirit

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29 Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. 30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.

Joel 2:28-32

The Coming of The Holy Spirit

1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
