Hell Pt. 6: Is The Lake of Fire The Holy Spirit?

The Lake of Fire is only mentioned by name four times in Scripture; each time, it’s in the book of Revelation. It’s described as the Second Death that the wicked are thrown into after the Last Judgment. Some claim that this Lake of Fire is the Holy Spirit. What exactly does that mean? How can the final punishment of the wicked be the Holy Spirit? Join ArieRashelle as she searches for the answer to these questions in her video, Hell Pt. 6: Is The Lake of Fire The Holy Spirit?

Hell

The Lake of Fire and The Holy Spirit

The Lake of Fire

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:11-15

The Holy Spirit

11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.

Hell Pt. 5: Eternal

Hell is described as a place of the Second Death, the Lake of Fire, outer darkness, and gnashing of teeth. Hell is Eternal

This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when He comes on that day to be glorified in His saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

Hell Pt. 4: Gnashing of Teeth

Hell is described as a place of outer darkness, the second death, and the Lake of Fire. Hell is also described as a place of gnashing of teeth. The majority believe that this statement means that the people in Hell will be grinning their teeth because of the immense torment they are experiencing. Is this really what Jesus meant when He described Hell as a place of gnashing of teeth? Gnashing of Teeth

When He had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to Him, appealing to Him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And He said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who followed Him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

Matthew 8:5-13

22 He went on His way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23 And someone said to Him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And He said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then He will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ 26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ 28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. 29 And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

Hell Pt. 3: Outer Darkness

Hell is described as the Second Death because everyone who goes to Hell has died first; therefore, going to Hell would be the second death. It’s also referred to as the Lake of Fire because it’s like you have fallen into the hands of the Living God, who is a consuming fire. Hell is also described as a place of Outer Darkness, but why? If Hell is a place of outer darkness, then does that mean there’s no light, or is it a different type of darkness? Matthew 8:5-13

1 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.”’ But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ 10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 12 And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Matthew 22:1-14

19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Revelation 20:11-15

42 Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.

Hell Pt. 1: The Second Death

Heaven or Hell, Your Choice

There’s a common belief that is becoming more and more prevalent in the Church, and that’s that there is no Hell. That Hell is here on earth, but our Bibles tell us differently. Hell is a real place that many people will spend eternity, but you don’t have to. No one has to go to Hell. No one has to spend eternity in torment in hot burning flames that never ceases. Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he shows us the path to eternal life and how to choose our own eternity in his message, Heaven or Hell, Your Choice.

Heaven or Hell

Eternity is Your Choice

Nobody can choose your own eternity for you. It’s up to you. You have to decide where you’re gonna spend your eternity. This was designed from the beginning.

9b The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:9b

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,

Deuteronomy 30:19

Nothing has changed. Life and death are still set before us today. The choice is ours.

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:20

Choose Life

Jesus already did all the heavy lifting. He already paid our debt, overcame the world and sin. All we have to do now is accept His salvation.

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Do Humans Go To Hell?

What does the Bible say about Hell? Is Hell even in the Bible? Well, the Bible says Hell was created for the Devil and his angels, not for humans. Death and Hades are both thrown into the Lake of Fire, as are the False Prophet and the Beast, but are humans? If Hell wasn’t made humans, does that mean that humans go to Hell? Hell In The Bible

Why Do Humans Go To Hell?

27 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

Matthew 5:27-30

12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:12-15

Humans will be sentenced to Hell if they do not follow God’s laws. If a person seeks to live a life of sin and unrighteousness, then God is not a part of that person. And if God is not a part of that person, then their names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. If your name isn’t written in the Lambs Book of Life, you will be sentenced to Hell at the Final Judgment.

Description of Hell

41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, 42 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:41-42

11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 8:11-12

According to Jesus, Hell is a place of extreme darkness and torment. It’s a place where there is no rest or peace. It’s a place where there is no joy, only pain and suffering. Hell is the exact opposite of Heaven because Hell was created as a punishment away from God and all of His attributes, so there can be nothing good in Hell.

And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of His anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

Revelation 14:9-11

According to the book of Revelation, in the last of the last days, the Mark of the Beast will be upon the earth, and if anyone takes that mark, their souls will be damned to Hell. So, in other words, you could’ve lived a righteous life your entire life, but if you give into the Mark of the Beast in the Last Days, then you will be one of the humans that are sentenced to Hell because of your sin.

And because of your sin, regardless of what it is, you will be tormented day and night forever and ever. It will be your eternal death because you did not choose eternal life.

Does God Want Me To Be Happy?

“I think God would want me to be happy” is a common response in today’s Church whenever we’re being spiritually corrected. But is that a fair statement? Does God want us to be happy? It would seem only right that God would want us to be happy and enjoy life to the fullest, but is that what God really wants for our lives? Is the Joy of the LORD the same as happiness? Does God Want Me To Be Happy?

How to Have Joy

Oftentimes, we fall into this trap because we have been told that God loves everyone and just wants us to have the best. That statement in itself is true, but the problem with that statement is that we base ‘love’ and ‘best’ on cultural standards instead of Biblical standards. According to Biblical standards, God’s desire for us is to have life and life more abundantly. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be a millionaire because that’s living life more abundantly, and let me be clear, there’s nothing wrong with being a millionaire; that’s just not what God was promising.

Having life and life more abundantly had nothing to do with material things; instead, it was about living without the chains of sin, shame, anger, depression, anxiety, etc. God’s promise was FREEDOM. Freedom from the chains and strongholds of this world. And happiness is one of the biggest strongholds of this world. If we stop chasing happiness, then we can start chasing freedom. Then and only then will be filled with The Joy of The LORD. And the Joy of The LORD, that is our strength. God doesn’t want us happy, He wants us filled with His joy because happiness doesn’t lead to freedom.

Why Would a Loving God Send People To Hell?

I’m a good person, and I love God, so why would I go to Hell? Besides, if God is really a good and loving God, why would He even create a place called Hell? 41 Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’

Matthew 25:41

Why Would I Go To Hell If I’m a Good Person?

We can claim to be good, but none of us are actually good. We are all flawed. We all sin because it’s in our flesh nature that we can’t overcome on our own.
