Put Your Faith Into Action

25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? ~ Matthew 6:25-26

When we read that we shouldn’t be anxious about anything because God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory, we think that means that God will just pour out blessing after blessing on us without us having to do anything, but that’s not how it works. I read a quote once that said, ‘God feeds the birds, but He doesn’t throw the worms into the nest.’ James puts it this way, ‘So also faith by itself if it does not have works, is dead’ (James 2:17).

We often think that all we have to do is have faith, and everything will work out. All we have to do is pray, and God will supply everything we need. All we have to do is believe, and God will save us, but that’s not what God promised us. God promised that if we have faith and speak to the mountain, it will move. We can’t live by faith alone. We have to put that faith into action and do something. You have a dream? Work for it with faith and prayer as your foundation. You have a lost loved one? Show them the love of God as you pray in faith that they will be saved. You have bills to pay? Search for jobs as you pray with faith that you will find a job.

Don’t allow obstacles that the enemy has placed before you to keep you from receiving your answered prayers. It took Daniel 21 days to receive an answered prayer. It took Abraham 25 years to receive his promise. Hold on to your faith, and keep fighting for your answered prayers and promises.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Put Your Faith Into Action.

With All Your Heart

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes it’s hard to have the faith needed to trust God instead of ourselves. We’ve never gotten to physically walk and talk with Jesus. We see little to no miracles. All we have is the faith that the Bible really is the Word of God. The only way we can strengthen our faith is to read our Bible, so that God can reveal Himself to us through His Word.

So, how can we be sure that God’s understanding is better than ours? Proverbs says that God established the Heavens and the Earth by His wisdom and understanding. How many of us can even understand how big the Heavens are, much less create something out of nothing from our own understanding. This is why the Scripture says that man’s wisdom cannot even compare to the ‘foolishness’ of God.

This is the reason we can’t depend on our own understanding. Our own understanding comes from or is influenced by sources other than God, such as secular education, biased news, anti-Christ sources, etc. We can’t trust our own understanding, nor can we trust the understanding of others. We’re all equally flawed full of the lack of understanding and wisdom, but when we depend on the understanding and wisdom of God, He directs our paths and guides us in all we do.

LORD God, help me to have the faith to trust You above myself. Help me to seek Your understanding instead of my own. Teach me to weed out the lies of the enemy and harvest the Truth of Your Word that I might know who You are and that my faith might grow stronger in You. Guide me in all that I do and lead me into paths of righteousness for Your sake. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Do You Trust Him?

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.” 11 And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, “Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” 12 And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.” 13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.” ~ 1 Kings 17:10-13

Jesus asked the question, ‘When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?’ This is the same kind of faith God was searching for in the widow at Zarephath. The faith that no matter what, you’ll be obedient to God. The faith of Noah when he built the Ark regardless of whether or not he saw even a hint of rain. The faith of Abraham when he was willing to sacrifice Isaac. The faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they were willing to die for their faith. Faith is what connects us to God. It’s what saves us. But we struggle with faith today.

We struggle with giving God our everything. It’s difficult to see the goodness of God when He’s asking us to risk or sacrifice something we love in the name of faith and obedience. Sometimes God is asking us to risk our entire reputation and relationships in order to give Him everything. Sometimes it’s our job, or our house, or our security. Sometimes it’s even our own lives, but God doesn’t do this just to see if we’ll do it. He doesn’t do it just for so; God tests our faith that He might know who truly loves Him. He’s making sure that you love Him in the good and in the bad. That you’ll love Him regardless of what circumstance you are currently in. God doesn’t just want to be a meal ticket; He wants a relationship with you. He wants you to trust Him with everything in you. He wants you to love Him for Him, not for what comes with Him. And when we love Him, He, in turn, draws closer to us. He draws closer than any brother or any friend. He never lets us go.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Have Faith.

Show Up

And He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went about among the villages teaching. ~ Mark 6:5-6

The Bible encourages us that healing is the Children’s bread and that by His (Jesus’) stripes have been healed. In other words, God wants to heal all of us, yet so many aren’t healed. There’s cancer, disease, pain, suffering, depression, anxiety all throughout the Church. We don’t look any different than the world, yet Jesus paid for our healing. He already paid our debt, so why don’t we see more miracles, especially in the Church?

We have become Nazareth. Jesus’ hometown was where He did the least amount of miracles. It wasn’t because He didn’t have the power to do so, but because they didn’t have the faith to receive it. They saw Jesus as just a carpenter’s son, not as the Son of Almighty God. They couldn’t get past their own perception of Christ. We’re no different. We see Jesus as our Savior, we even believe miracles are possible, but we don’t have the faith that Jesus still works today. He told us that the faith of a mustard seed could move mountains and even do the impossible.

We grew up not seeing the lame walk, the dumb talk, or the blind see. We grew up not seeing signs and wonders, so we don’t see that as a reality. We’ve become stuck like Nazareth. They wanted the Messiah to come. They saw the wisdom in His teaching, but they couldn’t get past how they saw Him. They couldn’t get past their own opinions of what the Messiah should be so that they could see all that He was. That’s where we are today. We believe, but we don’t have the faith. It’s like we’re in court, we have the best defense attorney in the world, but unless we show up and do our part, we might as well not have an attorney at all. That’s what faith is; it’s showing up; Jesus already did the rest.

Be Sure of Your Conviction

23 And after he had eaten bread and drunk, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 And as he went away a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his body was thrown in the road, and the donkey stood beside it; the lion also stood beside the body. ~ 1 Kings 13:23-24

Here’s a little back story for you. A man of God heard from the LORD that he was not to eat with King Jeroboam or eat anyone, for that matter, in that place. In fact, this man of God was filled with such conviction that he told King Jeroboam that even if he gave him half of his house, he still wouldn’t go home and eat with the king. After this, the man of God left. He was feeling confident in the word he heard from the LORD. He was on his way back home, then out of nowhere, an older prophet came after him and told him that he heard from an angel that he had to bring the man of God home with him. Because of this, the man of God left with him and ate at his home with the old prophet. This is where we pick up our story. The man of God was killed because of his disobedience to God.

So many of us have heard a word from the LORD. We heard a direct call from the LORD to do something or not to do something. When we first hear the word, we’re confident. We’re sure. In fact, when people we know don’t hear from God, don’t believe in the word you heard, it doesn’t bother you. But as soon as someone you know is a man or woman of God and they contradict or doubt the word that you’ve heard, then you begin to doubt as well. That’s what happened to the man of God. He was confident until the other man of God, who was older, contradicted what he knew God had told him.

When we hear a word from God, we have to have confidence in the word we heard. We have to have faith, regardless of what other people say they heard. Because if we don’t, we could completely miss our call, and in doing so, spiritual die. Why? Because Jesus said that it’s not just calling Jesus LORD that matters, it’s those who do the will of the Father in Heaven. Doing the will of the Father is what will get us into Heaven (Matthew 7:21). So, if we don’t follow the will of the Father, then we spiritually die and are separated from the LORD. So, have faith in what you have heard. Do the will of the Father.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Be Sure of Your Conviction.

Have Faith In Your God

27 And He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 28 But she answered Him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” 29 And He said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.” 30 And she went home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone. ~

A lot of times, we believe that we should receive an answer as soon as we make our request known, but God doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes He wants you to press in deeper. Sometimes He’s trying to push you in a different direction that is better for you. Sometimes He wants you to learn something before you receive what you’re asking for.

So, don’t be discouraged; no doesn’t always mean no. Sometimes you have to keep asking. Sometimes you have to hold on to hope and stand in faith that the LORD will answer your prayer. You have to remind yourself of all the promises the LORD has given you, claim them, continue to ask and stand in faith that your request will be made known to the LORD and fulfilled.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Have Faith In Your God.

Water the Seed

21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ ~ Matthew 25:21

God doesn’t start us off with more than we can handle. He prepares us little by little. He plants a tiny mustard seed of faith and waters it until it grows into a full tree. God isn’t a merciless tyrant throwing rocks at us, hoping to overcome us. God is our Heavenly Father who seeks only to build us up and make us new so that one day He may say to us, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’

This is the desire that God has for each of us. Take each moment that God gives you and use it to build your faith. Without faith, you cannot be saved, for no man can please God without faith. But don’t be discouraged or dismayed, for you have been filled with the Spirit of God Himself that is doing a good work in you.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Water the Seed.

Dwell In Faith

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, ~ Ephesians 2:8

It is only by faith that we are saved. And if we dwell in fear, then we don’t have faith. And if we don’t have faith, then we cannot please God. In other words, we cannot be saved. We have to dwell in love if we want to be with God, and the only way to dwell in love is to dwell in faith.

Faith comes by knowing God, which can only be done by spending time in His word as well as spending time in prayer and worship. We can’t expect to get to know God without spending time with Him. So, spend time with God. Get to know who He is, and you won’t live in fear or doubt; you will dwell in faith and love.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Dwell In Faith.

Is Fear a Sin?

20 years ago, the Spirit of Fear made its way to the center of every culture. In today’s world, fear has seemed to overcome all people, including the Church. The Church seems to be more afraid today than the early Church under Roman persecution. Is there anything wrong with being afraid? Is it a sin to be afraid? Is Fear a Sin?

Command Not To Be Afraid

If God commanded us not to do something, then it is a sin to do it. God commanded us not to be afraid. Therefore fear is a sin.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

How To Overcome Fear

If fear is a sin, then do not be afraid.

Know Who Your God Is

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.

John 10:27-30

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Romans 8:31-37

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 John 4:4

Don’t give into the Spirit of Fear because your God is for you, and with you.

Abide in the Arms of the Almighty

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7KJV

We cannot operate in power when we walk in fear. Because you cannot cast out or drive out what you are afraid of. You will run from what you fear, just like the Israelites ran from Goliath because they feared him greatly.

You cannot cast out, drive out, or overcome what you fear! Fear is a form of weakness that leads to distrust. When we distrust God, our faith dwindles. And as our faith dwindles, our relationship with God dwindles. The Spirit of Fear tries to dominate us and put us into submission so that it can separate us from God. Because if we are separate from God, Fear and other evil spirits can wreak havoc in our lives freely.

But if we stand firmly in faith because we know whom we serve, then we become more than conquerors. Then no weapon formed against us can prosper. Because now we are working, living, and abiding in the love, protection, and arms of the Almighty. So, trust God because He will never leave you, nor will He forsake you.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Abide in the Arms of the Almighty.
