Hell Pt. 6: Is The Lake of Fire The Holy Spirit?

The Lake of Fire is only mentioned by name four times in Scripture; each time, it’s in the book of Revelation. It’s described as the Second Death that the wicked are thrown into after the Last Judgment. Some claim that this Lake of Fire is the Holy Spirit. What exactly does that mean? How can the final punishment of the wicked be the Holy Spirit? Join ArieRashelle as she searches for the answer to these questions in her video, Hell Pt. 6: Is The Lake of Fire The Holy Spirit?

Hell

The Lake of Fire and The Holy Spirit

The Lake of Fire

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:11-15

The Holy Spirit

11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.

Hell Pt. 5: Eternal

Hell is described as a place of the Second Death, the Lake of Fire, outer darkness, and gnashing of teeth. Hell isn’t Hades, as Hades is thrown into the Lake of Fire, and those who refuse to bow their knee in this life are thrown into Hell. Hell is also described as eternal destruction, but why? How can Hell be eternal? Join ArieRashelle as she searches through Scripture for the answers in her video, Hell Pt. 5: Eternal.

Hell is Eternal

This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when He comes on that day to be glorified in His saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

Hell Pt. 2: The Lake of Fire

Hell is a place that we Christians try to avoid. It’s a place of eternal punishment for those who refuse to bow their knee before Christ while in this life. 42 Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.

Hell Pt. 1: The Second Death

Hell is one of two eternal destinations that the Bible tells us about. Hell is called by multiple names, such as The Lake of Fire, Eternal Destruction, and The Second Death. The Eternal Promises of God

Eternity is no longer just a far-off idea that won’t come to pass for a very long time. Eternity is knocking at our door. It’s right around the corner. Our eternity is being decided right now by us. Every action we make and every word we speak dictates our eternal dwelling place. Jesus warned us that there are only two options for our eternal dwelling place: eternal life and eternal death. Jesus also promised us that where we spend eternity will be up to us. Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the importance of our choices in this life as it directly dictates the next life in his message, The Eternal Promises of God.

The Eternal Promises of God

God’s Eternal Promises

The Feast of Tabernacles or Booths (Sukkot)

33 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths to the Lord. 35 On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. 36 For seven days you shall present food offerings to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the Lord. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.”

Leviticus 23:33-36

Eternal Dwelling Places

31 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left.

34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

41 Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

I Will Give You Rest, But When?

The world seems to be falling straight into the trap prophesied by Paul 2,000 years ago. Even though the world seems to be hopeless, he still implores us to continue to not grow weary of doing good. But why? Join ArieRashelle as she explains why we must continue to do good, even though everything seems hopeless, in our latest video, I Will Give You Rest, But When?

Galatians 6:7-10
2 Thessalonians 3:13
Matthew 11:28-30
Hebrews 12:1-3
Matthew 11:29-30
John 16:33
2 Corinthians 4:8-18
Revelation 21:3-4

Jesus promised that He would give us rest. He gave us this promise over 2,000 years ago, yet we’re still running a race, according to Paul. So when will we have this rest? Paul even goes on to write to Timothy that difficult times are up ahead.

For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:8-10

1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Don’t grow weary of doing good, for every good seed you are planting today will bear fruit tomorrow.

More Verses on When God Will Give Us Rest

Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. For we who have believed enter that rest, as He has said,

“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’”

although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:1-3

45 Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.”

Matthew 26:45

Now is not the time for rest. Now is the time for spiritual warfare. Yes, Jesus is on His throne. Yes, Jesus has overcome the world, but we still have work to do. We still have to fight our loved ones. We still have to fight for the lost. Look at what Jesus says,

We must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 9:4-5

Jesus lives in and through every Christ-Following Christian. As long as there are Christians on this earth, there is light. As long as there is light, there is day. Therefore, we must work while we can. Jesus is coming back soon, and when He does, there will no longer be time for anyone to work. When Jesus comes back, He is taking His bride with Him into their Eternal Rest. Will you be one of them?

Build Eternal Treasure

16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” ~ Luke 12:16-21

We see those who are rich, famous, wealthy and we envy them. They don’t have to struggle. They don’t have to worry about their bills. They don’t have to worry about not being able to afford presents for their family or themselves. They can do anything that they please. They have everything.

Ever notice that those people are constantly searching for more. They’re never satisfied. They keep building more and more wealth for themselves, but it’s never enough. It never satisfies them. They are constantly working for more when they already have everything. They aren’t satisfied.

We may not be the wealthiest. We may not be the richest, but we have Jesus. That hole that they’re trying to fill, we have that filled. The Holy Spirit fills us. He gives us Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Gentleness. Faithfulness. Self-Control. He satisfies us, but the wealthy who only seek to build themselves are without any of that. But most importantly, they are without eternal salvation. They are without freedom.

We build our riches up in Heaven, where moth does not devour, and the worm does not destroy. They build their treasures on Earth never once taking into account that that cannot go with them to eternity. The only thing going to eternity, is them. Their soul. That’s it. They can’t take their riches with them to the Judgment. They can’t bribe the Good Judge with their wealth. They go into eternity empty-handed and will have to stand before the throne of God with nothing to show for their life.

Tomorrow is promised to no man. Today is the day of Salvation. Choose today whom you shall follow, but you cannot serve both God and Mammon (money). Build up your riches in Heaven, for where your treasure is, so will your heart be.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Build Eternal Treasure.
