Don’t Let The World Determine

9 Passion for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. 10 When I weep and fast, they scoff at me. 11 When I dress in burlap to show sorrow, they make fun of me. 12 I am the favorite topic of town gossip, and all the drunks sing about me. 13 But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. ~ Psalms 69:9-13NLT

David was alone. He had no one in his corner; his own brothers turned away from him. Everything he did to try to encourage himself in the LORD and draw closer to God, the people mocked him. He fasted; they mocked him. He humbled himself in burlap; they mocked him. They gossiped and made songs about him, yet his faith in the LORD was not shaken. David was determined to get the LORD’s attention regardless of what the people said or did to him. David’s one goal was to dwell in the favor and love of the LORD.

Today, the Church’s one goal seems to be politically correct. We strive to be friends with the world. We strive to be accepted by the world. When we pray and seek the face of the LORD, and the world mocks us, we stop praying and seeking. When we praise and worship the LORD, and the world mocks us, we stop praising and worshiping. We allow the world to determine how our God is to be worshipped, acknowledged, praised, and prayed to when the LORD has written out for us the perfect guide to having a life pleasing and acceptable to Him.

LORD God, help us to seek out the plans you have for us and not those of the world. Help us to worship, pray, praise, and seek You, regardless of what the world says or does. Help us to only focus on You, oh LORD, instead of focusing on the world and its reactions. Give us strength, oh LORD, to fight the good fight set before us. Be with us always, LORD God, and strengthen our faith that it may not fail. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Declare Them Over Your Life

37 For the word of God will never fail. ~ Luke 1:37NLT

Every promise from the LORD is true and good. God has given us His Word that we might declare His blessings over our lives. When we need healing, remember by His stripes we have been healed. When we need peace, remember that He has given us His peace. When we need hope, remember He is the light of the world, and the darkness has never overcome it. There are verses for every circumstance we go through; we need only declare them over our lives and believe that they are for us.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Declare Them Over Your Life.

Play For Keeps

As soon as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came into the camp, all Israel gave a mighty shout, so that the earth resounded. And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shouting, they said, “What does this great shouting in the camp of the Hebrews mean?” And when they learned that the ark of the Lord had come to the camp, the Philistines were afraid, for they said, “A god has come into the camp.” And they said, “Woe to us! For nothing like this has happened before. Woe to us! Who can deliver us from the power of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with every sort of plague in the wilderness. Take courage, and be men, O Philistines, lest you become slaves to the Hebrews as they have been to you; be men and fight.” ~ 1 Samuel 4:5–9

The Israelites were so excited to have the Ark of the Covenant come into their camp because they knew it represented the presence of the LORD, and where the presence of the LORD is, there is victory. But they were only going through a religious phase. They were using it as a lucky charm, but they didn’t have a relationship with Him. God will not let His great name be used as a talisman. He desires to have a relationship with His people.

You cannot side with the kingdom of God, and then when the enemy attacks you with sickness, disease, cancer, poverty, or some kind of pestilence and you cannot now expect to just run out and begin to call upon the name of the LORD as aa incantation expecting the magic to just bust forth like fireworks. It doesn’t work that way. God expects you to foster your relationship with Him.

The enemy will begin to fight even harder, and like the philistines fighting the Israelites, he will overcome you, and you will lose the battle. He does not desire to be obedient to your words, but his wish is to enslave you, and he will if you don’t have the presence of God with you.

You cannot separate who you are, neither in work, nor in play, nor in politics. If God hates it, so should we. It is not a matter of choice or our way. It is God’s way or the highway. So, let us get our priorities straight and begin to serve the one true God, and not man or culture or popularity. The enemy is playing for keeps. So should we.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Play For Keeps.

Love Him With Your Actions

14 Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. ~ Psalms 91:14

Many of us go through spiritual attacks that feel as if there is no deliverance. In fact, many of us go through seasons of drought in our lives that we blame God for when actuality it’s because of our own lack of love for God. So many of us believe that if we say we love God, that’s enough, but according to Jesus Himself we love God with our actions.

God said to the people that they love Him only in speech, but their heart is far from Him. Could this be what has happened to the Church today? We honor God with our lips but our hearts are far from Him? We seek the acceptance of the world instead of God. We support and promote sin, yet we expect God to deliver us from our trials and heal our sickness and disease.

The LORD said He will deliver those who love Him and protect those who know His name. So, this begs the question, do you love Him? Is your lack of love for God the reason for your continued trials, illnesses, troubles, etc.?

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Love Him With Your Actions.

Minister

44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. ~ Matthew 25:44-46

Today is the day that we remember victims of torture. This day should be especially important to us as Christians because, according to Jesus, unless we minister to those (other Christians) in prison, then there will be no room for us in the sheepfold. How do we minister to them? We pray for them.

We bring them up before the LORD in prayer and supplication. We pray for their peace, patience, love, and endurance not to run dry. We pray for their physical body to receive supernatural healing and that they might be strengthened to endure all that is laid before them. We pray that they might lead as many to Christ as possible by their words and actions. We pray for our fellow Christians.

When we begin to pray, it may not even be out of love, but the more we do it, the more our flesh weakens, and our spirit is strengthened. Then after a time, our hearts will be filled with love for them, and our prayers will become more powerful and more discerning of what they need for prayer specifically. This praying isn’t just for them; it’s for us (the ones praying) as well because what we sow, that we shall also reap.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Minister.

Speak Up For Life

5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. ~ Jeremiah 1:5

Yesterday, June 24th, 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned. This was something that many said would never be done, but by the grace of God, the LORD is raising up a new generation of men and women ready to stand up for life. We are called to speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves. We’re called to be a voice of the LORD in the world. A light in the darkness.

So, let this be the beginning of the Church standing up for what is right. The beginning of the Church saying that a life is a life regardless of how small. Let this be the beginning of the Church taking its rightful place as the light of the world.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Speak Up For Life.

Command The Workers

1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with His disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” ~ John 2:1-5

When Jesus was at a wedding in Cana, the wine ran out, so Mary, His mother, wanted Him to do something about it. Now, Jesus’ earthly ministry hadn’t started yet, but Mary didn’t wait. She didn’t even respond to Jesus when He asked her what the wine shortage had to do with Him. Instead, she simply told the workers to do whatever He (Jesus) said to do. Because of this, Jesus not only turned water into wine and prolonged the wedding feast, He gave them an even better wine than they originally had. So much so that the master of the feast spoke out about how great the wine was.

See, Mary could’ve taken what Jesus said as a no. Mary could’ve gotten discouraged and walked away. In fact, if she had let herself become discouraged, not only would she have missed out on an even greater wine than was previously served, but the entire wedding guests would have missed out along with her. Instead of Mary becoming discouraged and giving up, she spoke with authority and commanded the workers. Mary understood that the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. Jesus didn’t tell Mary no; He left the door open for her to taste more than she was receiving. Mary understood her authority because she was the mother of Jesus, and He didn’t outrank her with a no; instead, He left the door open to the possibility.

Today we are in the same situation as Mary was 2,000 years ago. We no longer see the miraculous like they did in the time of Jesus or even the prophets of old. It’s as if the wine has run out. See, the wine in Scripture almost always represents the Spirit of God, and even though the LORD said He has poured out His Spirit on all flesh, it doesn’t seem to be much flowing of His Spirit today. We’re now at the point where we’re asking Jesus to do something, and He’s asking, “What do you expect me to do about it? I’m not on earth. What concern is it of mine?” Many of us get discouraged by this and give up, but don’t be discouraged. Jesus isn’t saying that He won’t help. Jesus isn’t saying no. Jesus is asking what concern of it is mine because I’ve given you authority in my name. Don’t ask to be healed; speak the healing. By His stripes, we have been healed. Don’t ask to be freed from the bondage of addiction, rejection, or any other spirit; command that spirit to leave in the name of Jesus. Where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is freedom. We’ve been given authority by God Himself, so why don’t we use it?

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Command The Workers.

Resist The Siren’s Song

11 But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. ~ 1 Timothy 6:11-12NLT

As we get closer to the return of Jesus, the world becomes more and more evil. As the world becomes more evil, the more it becomes enticing. As the world darkens, it will become harder to fight temptation unless we pursue righteousness from now. Unless we train our flesh and run from all manner of evil, the world will one day be able to suck us in.

It’ll become like a siren song that we can’t resist because we didn’t hold tightly to the hope of Eternal Life with God. And if we are drawn away by this siren song, it will only lead to death and destruction. We have to resist while there is time to resist. We have to seek God while He can still be found. We have to build our faith while it is still possible. We have to fight the good fight while we still can.

LORD, help us to fight the good fight and not be distracted by the things of this world. Help us to not take Your salvation and mercy for granted. Help us to spend time talking and listening to You, abiding in You and You in us, so that we can unashamedly proclaim Your goodness and great salvation to all people, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Follow The LORD With All Your Heart

30 Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.’ ~ 1 Samuel 2:30 ESV

God promised that the house of Eli would go in and out before Him forever, but because of their evil, it didn’t happen. In the same manner, God gave Hezekiah an extra 15 years after sending him a death sentence because Hezekiah pleaded with the LORD. This shows that we can change the mind of God by our actions and by our prayers. Our lives don’t have to be set in stone.

If we aren’t on the straight and narrow path that leads to everlasting life, then we can change our path by repenting and asking for God’s forgiveness. This can also be true if we have been given a promise and we refuse to follow the LORD and His instructions. If we remain idle and refuse to move forward and follow the LORD, then His promise that He gave to us will be given to another. Don’t allow yourself to miss out on all that God has in store for you.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Follow The LORD With All Your Heart.

Call On The Word

17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God ~ Ephesians 6:17

The Sword of the Spirit is our greatest weapon. It’s our defensive and offensive weapon. Why? Because the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, and Jesus is the Word of God. He isn’t dead but alive. He is the King of kings and LORD of lords. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the one who was, who is, and who is to come. He is the Word made flesh. Our greatest weapon is the Word of God because it is Jesus. The Word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, because every time we quote Scripture, we are calling on Jesus to come to our rescue.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Call On The Word.
