² As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people, from this time forth and forevermore. ~ Psalm 125:2^ESV

The psalmist wrote, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem.” Mountains represent protection. Mountains will break up and weaken the storms. They are protection from bandits and the enemy. Mountains can be used as a lookout as well as a place to encounter the presence of God.

This is a promise from God Himself to us. The Scripture did not say the LORD surrounds the Israelites. It said the LORD surrounds His people. If you are a child of God, this is your promise. If you consider yourself one of His people, reach out and lay hold of this promise.

All of God’s promises are yea and amen. Not one of His good promises has ever failed, nor will any ever fail. God does not say yes now and no later. This is good news. The LORD promises to be a shield and a protection to you and your family. He will give you insight and guard your way. He will rebuke the devourer on your behalf. If you’re going through a storm in your life, He will either break it up and bring you a calm and peace, or He will shield you and protect you as you go through the storm. Be encouraged and rejoice; God is for you.

Father, thank You for Your great mercy. For Your protection and for calming the storm on my behalf. Open my eyes that I might see Your grace, mercy, and protection each day of my life. Show me how to live and dwell in your perfect peace. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

There are 7.9 billion people living on the earth today in almost 200 countries around the world. With so many people, in so many different cultures, doing so many different things, it’s easy to feel alone and insignificant. It’s easy to feel invisible and meaningless. But you aren’t.

Think about this, the God that created all of those people created you as well. He formed you in your mother’s womb. He picked out your hair color and your eye color. In fact, He numbers the very hairs on your head. Why? Because you’re important to Him. He loves you.

Let that sink in for a minute. The God that created everything we see and don’t see took the time to form you in your mother’s womb to make you the unique person that you are. He gave each of us a special gift and a plan for our lives. A plan to give us hope and a future. A plan that He created just for us. Each person is special to God. Why? Because He created each person. You weren’t a mistake, nor were you an accident. God created you and formed you. He called you by name. He gave up His own life so that you could have a new one. So that you could be saved.

Never believe the lie that you aren’t important. The God of the entire universe knows your importance and your worth, so seek Him, and you will see it too.

Sometimes you have to go through the storm so that you can get to the other side. But once you get out of your storm, don’t take it with you. Don’t carry your storm with you to your place of freedom. To your place of rest. A lot of the time, we are stuck on the anger from our storm that we can’t see the solution that has been given to us. We can’t see the freedom. We can’t see the healing. We can’t see the blessing. We can’t see the change.

But if we let go of the past and we let go of the trials and tribulations, we can grow. We can find hope. Sometimes God allows us to go through difficult times that we might grow in faith and in hope. Because when we are weak, that’s when God is strong. He carries us when we can’t stand on our own two feet. He shows us His love and mercy, especially when everything else seems to be falling apart. So, don’t be discouraged in trials and tribulations; the LORD, your God, is with you. Encourage yourself in His Word, and He will give you strength that you may run the race set before you and not grow weary.

Perilous times are prophesied for the end time dwellers, and therefore, perilous times are coming. Jesus said that a time of great tribulation such as never was, and never will be again, is coming upon the earth, and I believe it is here now. Or at the very least, it is has begun.

The elect, which is us Christians, will also experience dreadful and trying times; otherwise, God would not have to shorten those days for the elect’s sake. Believe me, when I say those days are upon us now. Look at the world, God is hated, and His people are despised. There are those who are trying to cause chaos in the Church. And those who say that they love Jesus but are secretly servants of Satan and are throwing Christians into confusion and dividing the body of Christ. You can read about it in the news; whole denominations are splitting over matters that were settled centuries, even millenniums ago.

But the good news is, He is watching, He is waiting, and when it becomes too much for His people, He will cut those days short, and He will come and get us and deliver us out of all terrible things. He hasn’t forgotten us. He is not going to leave us to the mercy of the world and the haters of God forever. He loves us.

Valentine’s Day is usually a day we think about our significant other, roses, chocolate, date night, love, and basically anything other than the ultimate act of love that took place 2,000 years ago. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate act of love that He didn’t have to do. He didn’t have to set aside His Throne or Godliness to save us, but He did. He gave up everything, including His very life, so that He could pay our debt and redeem us from our sin.

This Valentine’s Day, remember that ultimate act of love. Remember the love that you’re worth, and don’t settle for anything less. The God of everything we see and don’t see knows you by name and knows your worth. So, you should as well.

When we’re in pain, the first thing we should do is turn to God. He’s our helper and defender. He heals the brokenhearted and gives strength to the weak. Our God is unlike any other god. So, the next time you’re in distress, go to God first, and He will strengthen and help you.

Joseph had the highest position in all of the land of Egypt with only Pharaoh, king of Egypt, above him. Every Egyptian answered to him. He even wore Pharaoh’s signet ring, yet the Egyptians still looked down on Joseph because he was a Hebrew. Pharaoh elevated him above all of them, but they still despised him because of where he came from and who he was.

Here’s the thing, just because God elevates you to a position of great power and authority doesn’t mean that those around you will accept you. God can be doing a great work in you and through you, and people will still bring up that you’re not enough or that your past is your present.

People will curse you and shun you, but don’t let that get to you. You’re not here from them. They didn’t create you. They didn’t die for you. So, why let them keep you from the purpose God has for you.

Be encouraged today; if God is for you, who can be against you? That’s not saying no one will be against you; it’s saying if they come against you, what will that do if you have God on your side? No one can remove your anointing from God. No one can remove your authority from God. No one can remove your call from God. You are chosen by Almighty God, even if the world doesn’t see your worth.

When the LORD called Moses, He didn’t call him, tell him what to do, then send him out alone unprotected with no help. No, instead, the LORD God Himself got off of His throne and went before Moses, declaring His name and character. God didn’t just leave Moses alone; He went before him, clearing the way. And our God does not change. Therefore, if He went before Moses, He will go before each and every one of us.

We don’t fight the good fight alone. Jesus already fought the fight and won. He overcame so that we can also overcome through Him. The LORD has gone before us, declaring His name and all He has done for us. That doesn’t mean that we don’t have to fight anymore; Moses still had to go behind the LORD and do all that the LORD commanded him. Therefore, we still have to work and run the race until Jesus comes back for us but be encouraged for the LORD Himself dwells with us and in us. He is the one who helps us fight our battles. We are not alone.

God doesn’t just use the greatest and the most powerful of people; He uses all people. Great and small. Rich and poor. God does not discriminate. He has a plan for all people. When He sent His one and only Son into the world, He didn’t send Him to the greatest land in the greatest territory. God reminded Bethlehem that it wasn’t insignificant.

This Christmas season, God is calling out to you as well. You are not insignificant or meaningless. The God of the entire universe knows you by name; He keeps count of all of the hairs on your head, He has a purpose and calling for you. You are not insignificant and unimportant. You are called by God Most High. So, be encouraged this Christmas season.
