Does God Expect Me To Be Perfect?

“No one is perfect” is a common phrase in our world today, but is that the Truth or is it just another excuse? And if it is the Truth, then does that mean no one will ever be perfect? Does God expect me to be perfect? Should we aim for perfection, or would that be prideful to do so? Perfected in The Image of God Verses

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

Galatians 6:15

7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Galatians 4:7

These verses are saying that no longer are you your past, but now you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. You are now being transformed into a new creation. Look at what Paul writes in his letter to the Romans.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

You are being perfected into the Image of God, as Adam was perfectly made in the Image of God. How? Because the veil has been removed from our eyes and our eyes are being opened by the Holy Spirit who is now living in us.

18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:16-17
