The Book of Revelation speaks continuously about a beast that will beguile the enter earth and many will worship it. But who is that beast, and what is it? Is the Beast and the Man of Lawlessness the same? Is it the Antichrist? Is it just another name for the Devil or Satan? He is Lucifer or some other evil spirit like Baal, Mammon, or Leviathan? Join ArieRashelle as she answers these questions and reveals the Beast, in her video, The Beast Out of The Sea.
The Beast Out of the Sea
The Beast vs. The Man of Lawlessness
In recent years, the Church has come to call the Man of Lawlessness the antichrist, but this isn’t actually accurate. The antichrist isn’t a person; it’s a spirit like the spirit of fear, python, etc. The Spirit of Antichrist is a spirit that denies that Jesus is LORD. The Man of Lawlessness (not the antichrist) and The Beast Out of the Sea are two different beings as well. The Beast comes before the Man of Lawlessness.
The Beast Out of the Sea
1 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. 2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”
5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.
Revelation 13:1-8
The Man of Lawlessness
1 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. 5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only He who now restrains it will do so until He is out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of His mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of His coming.
9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-11
While both the Beast and the Man of Lawlessness come to their reign by the activity of Satan, they aren’t the same person. One is given their thrown and authority and power all from Satan, while the other only comes because of the activity of Satan.
