James 1:6-8 NIV

[6] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. [7] That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. [8] Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

So, I have a 5 year old Siberian Husky. Anytime she hears me with food, she comes running and sits there staring at me as I eat, just waiting for me to share some of my food with her. I can tell her no a thousand times. I can refuse to give her any of my food and a thousand times, and she will still come back expecting food that one thousand and one time. It doesn’t matter how many times I say no, she will always come back expecting to receive something, even if it’s just a tiny taste. This is how we Christians should be. We should be like my dog.

Jesus told the Parable of the woman who beat the king down and refused to give him peace until she received her justice. He compared praying to this. We aren’t supposed to just say one prayer and expect God to immediately move. We are to bombard heaven with our prayers. We are to send up so many prayers that nothing could silence them.

This life is a spiritual war. We have an actual adversary working towards our destruction. We should never be passive in this life, and when we don’t hear from God, we should keep going. Imagine if Daniel stopped seeking God after one day or even after twenty days. Daniel would have never gotten his answer. He was like my doggie begging for some of the food that I’m eating, expecting to receive an answer. When we pray, we must pray expecting God to hear us and expecting God to answer us. Otherwise, why pray? We must pray with faith and then walk in action. Our actions should correlate with our prayers of faith. Otherwise, our spirit and our soul are not on the same page.

Therefore, bombard heaven expecting to receive exactly what we have asked for. Refusing to allow silence to keep us from continuing our prayers. We pray in faith, and we act as if we have received the answer.

Request Adamantly

Genesis 19:1-3 NIV

[1] The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. [2] “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.” [3] But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.

Whenever I think of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, I never put too much thought into Abram’s request being fulfilled. Abram begged the LORD to spare the city for 10 righteous men. Abram didn’t beg to save Lot. He begged for the city to be saved if for the sake of 10 righteous. The angels coming into the city weren’t going to stay with Lot, then came to test the city. Too find any righteous. This is why Lot had to convince them with much urgency to come stay with him because that was never the plan. If Lot had left them to fend for themselves, he and his daughters may not have been saved from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Lot saved his family by taking those two men into their homes. He did it out of the kindness and love in his heart, not knowing that were angels. Not knowing they were going to rescue him from destruction. Lot didn’t know that there was something in it for him.

Hebrews tells us that some of us have hosted angels unknowingly. In the days to come before the Man of Lawlessness takes his seat in the Temple of God and proclaims himself to be God, the love of many must first grow. Our love is what separates us from the world. The love of God is a pure, untainted love. It protects and covers those who run into it. That love fills us with a piercing Light that shines into the darkness.

If today we had the opportunity to give sanctuary to a complete stranger, would we take that chance? Many of us would just walk right by them. A lot of us believe in minding our own business. But the safety of our fellow man is our business.

Therefore, don’t let your hearts be hardened. Look out for your fellow man. Care for the less fortunate. And help those in need.

Invoke, Thank, and Praise

4 Then he appointed a family of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. ~ 1 Chronicles 16:4

Solomon said that a three-strand cord isn’t easily broken. In other words, when you put three key principles together, you aren’t easily overcome by the enemy. David set up a three-strand cord as well, and there was much peace, prosperity, and favor of the LORD during His reign.

1. Invoke (to invoke the Name of the LORD. To bless. Jesus gave us the authority to use His mighty name.)
2. To give thanks
3. And to praise the LORD

Normally, the first thing that is listed, or the first thing that is done, is the most dominant or the most important. The first thing David did was call on the name of the LORD. We were given a promise from the time of Joel that all who call on the name of the LORD would be saved. Jesus promised that God would hear those who call on the name of the LORD.

After this, David gave thanks. This is important because we enter God’s gates with thanksgiving. In other words, after God has heard our cry and we’ve gotten His attention, we begin the process of entering His presence through thanksgiving.

Finally, David had them praise the LORD. Because you enter His gates with thanksgiving, and you enter His courts with praise. In other words, we enter God’s presence through praise. This three-strand cord opens the door to the presence of the LORD. It worked for David during his time on this earth, and it still works for us today.

Prepare The Way

3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.” ~ Isaiah 40:3NKJV

2,000 years ago, John the Baptist proudly went before the LORD, preparing a way for Him. When Jesus came, He brought with Him salvation, healing, peace, and life. Today, the world is getting darker and darker. It’s time we took up the mantle. The darkness is so thick that even the Church has begun to accept that this is just the way it is, but even though Sodom and Gomorrah’s sin was great and plenty, God was willing to spare the nation and all the wicked for just 10 righteous men for the sake of Abraham’s request.

Too often, we, Christians, accept defeat. We accept that things are just the way they are, and there’s nothing we can do to change it. But our voice is greater than even that of John the Baptist, for when we don’t know what to say, the Spirit speaks on our behalf. He speaks for us and through us. The time for silence is no more. Now is the time to prepare the way for the LORD and cry out like a voice in the wilderness.

We have the very Spirit of God Himself dwelling in us. Prepare the way with His light as it shines through us, piercing this present darkness. Prepare the way for the LORD and His Holy Spirit to melt the heart of the people who hear you speaking the Truth. The LORD hasn’t returned yet. There’s still time to change the course of the world. There’s still time to cry, just a little while longer, Jesus, so that we might get our loved ones in. There’s still time to shine the light in the darkness and prepare the way for the LORD to work in the lives of people. No one is too small or unimportant to do something. It only takes one straw to break the camel’s back. It only takes one pebble to start an avalanche. Only one domino to know over all the dominoes. So, use your voice while you still can to proclaim righteousness, speak Truth, and expose the darkness.

Take All Three Keys

12 Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, 14 and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.” ~ Daniel 10:12-14

According to Gabriel, Daniel was able to break through the Territorial Spirits in the kingdom of Persia and receive the answer to his prayers because of three things. The first is to firmly set it in your heart that God will answer you. You have to have an unshakeable desire and faith that you will hear from God. That He will answer your call, and nothing and no one can stop your prayers from being answered.

The second key is to humble yourself through fasting. Fasting breaks down spiritual strongholds that we may not see with our natural eyes. It’s only through forcing your body into submission that your spirit can grow and flourish, allowing your prayers to be answered. The only way to truly achieve this is to not only fast food but also to fast the secular world. Your spirit cannot truly grow and flourish unless you are feeding it with the Word of God. Unless you are first tying up the strongman, your flesh, and putting him into submission, can you actually feed your spirit the way that it needs to thrive?

Lastly, the third key is to continue until you see your prayers answered. Just as Jacob refused to let go of God until he received his blessing, so must we refuse to stop praying until we receive our answered prayers. We have to come to God multiple times a day, every day if we want to break through these kinds of blockades. Think of it as going to court because immigration has arrested your answered prayers at a point of entry, and you are your answered prayers lawyer. You have to show up to each court appearance. You have to remind the judge (God) of all of the promises He has given about answered prayers. Remind Him of all the promises He has made you. Unless we show up to each court appearance and defend our case with all that is within us, then we will lose our case, and we will never receive our answered prayers.
