Shoot For The Moon

48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. ~ Matthew 5:48

According to Jesus, we are to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. But how can we humans who are flawed be perfect? Christ loved us enough that He gave Himself up for us so that we could be Holy. Then He washed us with living water through the word of God so that we could be without stain or blemish, but instead Holy and blameless.

Paul then instructs us to be not conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. How do we do that? We meditate on Scripture, and we take captive every thought that is unclean. We change the way we think through Scripture and through prayer.

So, in order to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, you have to read the Word of God, and we have to hear the Word of God being preached. Because it is by faith, we have been saved, and faith comes through hearing and hearing through the Word of God.

We place on the full Armor of God as well as pray in the Spirit for ourselves and others so that we will be able to overcome temptation when it comes because God promises that we will never face temptation too strong to overcome.

You may not always make the right decisions, and temptation may overcome you from time to time, but don’t settle for less than perfect. Aim for perfection. Norman Vincent Peale said it this way, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” It may seem impossible to live without sin, but with God, everything is possible.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Shoot For The Moon.

Dwell As Lizards

28 the lizard you can take in your hands, yet it is in kings’ palaces. ~ Proverbs 30:28

We’re lower than the heavenly beings. We can easily be destroyed and overpowered. We’re lower than everything except for the animals, yet the God of the Universe got off of His throne to rescue us from our sin so we could be with Him forever.

Though we’re small. Though we’re tiny. We’re below the angels. We’re below the supernatural realm, yet God Almighty looked down and saw something in us worth saving. He came and He died for and gave us the opportunity to dwell with Him. We don’t have to, it’s not forced upon us, but He says,

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:20

Jesus gives us the opportunity to dwell with Him in His palace. In His temple for all eternity. We will dwell in God and with God forever and ever, even though we are only dust, God has made a way for us to dwell in and with Him forever and ever.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Dwell As Lizards.

March As Locusts

27 the locusts have no king, yet all of them march in rank; ~ Proverbs 30:27

Though the locusts have no king, they still do exactly what they need to do. King Solomon ranked this as the third example of wisdom. We, the Church, need to act as locusts. Jesus is the King of kings, but yet He is not physically here leading us. Because Jesus isn’t physically here leading us, it’s as if we don’t have a king. Sometimes it can feel lonesome. Sometimes it can be difficult to do good because you can’t see your king.

But even though our king isn’t physically here on earth leading us, we are not alone. He is with us spiritually, and the Holy Spirit lives within us. We are not alone. We can still keep going. Jesus said, ‘Blessed are those who have not seen and still believe.’ He was speaking about us. We haven’t seen Jesus, yet He is guiding us spiritually that we might believe and be saved.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and March As Locusts.

Build As A Rock Badger

26 the rock badgers are a people not mighty, yet they make their homes in the cliffs; ~ Proverbs 30:26

Solomon attributed the rock badgers home building skills as the reason they are wise. We are no different. Jesus said the wise man builds his house upon the rock. Jesus is the rock. Therefore, those who build their house on Jesus are wise.

Because that sturdy foundation cannot be moved, they will stand firm in trials and tribulation. They will rely on Jesus, and they will not be moved, but those that refuse to build on Jesus, He will become a stumbling stone for them. He will be offensive to them. Jesus will either be the rock that makes you or the rock that breaks you.

Building your life on Jesus is easy. All you have to do is accept His free gift of freedom by repenting for your sins and asking Him to be LORD of your life. Jesus already did the heavy lifting; all you have to do is believe.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Build As A Rock Badger.

Gather Like The Ants

24 Four things on earth are small, but they are exceedingly wise: 25 the ants are a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer; ~ Proverbs 30:24

Solomon wasn’t talking about physical food; he was talking about spiritual food. Our spiritual food is a little complicated. First, it is the Word of God. The Word of God is the literal word that God speaks, but it is also Jesus. Jesus is the bread of life. So, dwelling in the literal Word of God, The Bible, as well as spending time with Jesus, is the beginning of gaining wisdom.

See, the ants don’t wait until the winter is here to gather their food. What am I talking about? They don’t wait for temptation, tribulation, hardships, pain, suffering, grief, or tragedy to come. They prepare their food; they store it up from summer. They store up the Word of God inside of them so that when trials come, they have food. They won’t grow hungry and starve. They won’t be choked out by the weeds that grow up next to them. They’ll overcome and receive that crown of life.

On that Great and Glorious Day, when we all stand before the throne of God, those that take heed from the ants will be the ones to hear the words, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter in.’ All you have to do is accept Jesus’ free gift of Salvation and then follow Him.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Gather Like The Ants.

Accept Your Freedom

1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. ~ Galatians 5:1

Through Christ Jesus, we are freed from a Spiritual yoke of slavery. We no longer have to live our lives as slaves to sin. What does that mean? In other words, through Christ Jesus, our past stays in the past. We are no longer slaves to alcohol, sexual immorality, depression, anger, suicidal thoughts. We are free in the name of Jesus.

Even though we are free in the name of Jesus, we still have a constant battle in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:12). But when we stand firm in Christ Jesus, we overcome through Christ Jesus. Sin no longer has a hold on us; the weight of this world no longer has a hold on us. Be encouraged today; it may not happen in the very moment you repent. It may be a constant battle, but when you fight through Christ Jesus, you will overcome any obstacle in your path.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Accept Your Freedom.

Know Your God

4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” ~ Genesis 3:5-6

Satan had successfully separated the woman from the covenant relationship of God, caused doubt to rise in her mind, then boldly called God a liar by perverting the Word of God. And he does that same thing even today.

Did God really say that? Did God really say that? Satan successfully separates us from God by getting us to question if what God said is true. And he does this by using sin, specifically three root sins.

    1. Lust of the Eyes
    2. Lust of the Flesh
    3. Pride of Life

The only way we can know what God says and if what He says is true is if we build a strong foundation with the LORD. We have to spend time in prayer, worship, and reading our Bible. This is the only way we will build our faith, and therefore the only way we will overcome the enemy’s attacks.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Know God.

Tap Into The Power

17 And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions,  and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ~ Acts 2:17-18, 21

At Pentecost, after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Peter stood up and quoting the prophet Joel; he told the people that in the last days, God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh and all who call on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

So, it is the belief in that name, the Name of Jesus, that we are now able to call upon the LORD, and He hears us. If we look and consider, it’s the name that was preached, it’s the name that was feared, it’s the name that has the power and authority, it was the name that healed, it was the name that raised the dead, and it’s the name that saves.

    • It was the name that was preached and taught – Acts 4:17-18; 5,28
    • It was the name that was feared – Acts 5:11
    • It’s the name that has the power and authority – Acts 4:7
    • It was the name that healed – Acts 3:6; 4:30
    • It was the name that raised the dead – Hebrews 11:35a
    • It’s the name that saves – Acts 4:12

So, what are we talking about here? We’re talking about the most powerful name of Jesus and the authority it carries. There is no other name like it.

At the name of Jesus:

    • Demons flee
    • Darkness runs away
    • Diseases are healed
    • Marriages are put back together
    • Breeches are repaired
    • Relationships are mended
    • Souls are saved

So, why are Christians so fearful and filled with disease? We, the Church, can no longer be distinguished from the world because we look and act just like them. Why? Has the name of Jesus lost its power and authority? Of course not. Christians have become lukewarm because we refuse to draw a line in the sand and stand for and live by Truth. We want to be comfortable, so we trade in the power of God and the authority that comes in the very name of Jesus for a few more years of living in our comfort zone.

God has not changed; the Church has. We’ve become lukewarm, lazy Christians. The power of God is still in His name; it’s still in His Spirit; it’s still in His people; we just have to take the time to unlock that power as the first Church did. We have spent time in prayer and worship. We have to remove the constant filth and distractions from our lives. We have to press in and draw near to God so that He will draw near to us.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Tap Into The Power.

Shine in the Darkness

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ~ John 1:5

I have never seen a struggle between light and darkness. As you walk into a dark room and flick the switch, quicker than the eye can see, the darkness changes to light because it no longer lacks light. We are the light in this present darkness. And as the light, we have to overcome the darkness in our communities, workplaces, schools, etc., by acting as light.

How we treat others and how we live our lives is the only way to be the light. Our actions are what lead others to the light.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

We can’t be miserable, difficult to work with, easily angered, sexually immoral, and still have a testimony for Christ. We have to live as the light, not as the darkness. And when we do, we will begin to see the change in the world around us because the darkness cannot overcome the light.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Shine in the Darkness.

Feed the Flame

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. ~ Psalms 119:105

When we preach and teach God’s Word, it lights our path, and it lights the path of our hearers. Light does not struggle with darkness. Darkness never overcomes light. And in a world filled with much darkness, it is crucial to understand where our light comes from. Our light comes from the Holy Spirit that lives within us.

This light can only grow and strengthen if it is fed. It’s like a fire. A fire will die out if it isn’t tended to and given more fuel to consume. The Holy Spirit within us is the same way; that is why the Psalmist wrote that the Word of God is like a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We are in a dark world, and if we don’t have the Holy Spirit like a roaring fire within us feeding on the Word of God that we are pumping into our mind and spirit, then we will be overcome by darkness. The light will not be overcome by darkness, but we will be overcome by darkness because without feeding the light, the light will die within us.

So, spend time in the Word. Spend time in worship. Spend time in prayer. You have to feed the Holy Spirit within you, or you will run cold and dark.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Feed the Flame.
