Evil For Light

22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! ~ Matthew 6:22-23

The enemy loves to try to dress up evil and make it innocent so that we don’t run from it but embrace it. We see it all throughout the Church today. Why? Because the Church has embraced the darkness because the Devil dressed it up enough that it doesn’t seem dark or evil. It now seems innocent. In fact, it can even be used to bring people to Christ.

People often speak about Trunk or Treat and how they brought a sermon after the Trunk or Treat and how people found God there. God isn’t in the midst of evil. You can’t partner good with evil in order to attract the world to be saved. You don’t try to mix light with darkness in order to bring people to the light. No. You boldly shine the light into the darkness so that you can light the way to Christ. Others are offended because we say we need to stay away from yoga because it’s a form of Buddhist prayer that opens your body up to spirits.

We can try to clean up darkness all we want, but darkness will always remain dark. Therefore, if the light within us is actually the darkness that we tried to clean up, then how great is that darkness? For there is no light. There is only darkness.

Dear LORD, please clean out the darkness within us. Show us what is in our lives that we have to remove. Show us what is of You and what is of the Devil. Give us a spirit of discernment that we might know the difference between Error and Truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Escape What Is Coming

19 I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. ~ Revelation 2:19

10 Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. ~ Revelation 3:10

The Church in Thyatira had love, faith, and patient endurance, but He did not say He would keep them from the Great Trial. Do you know why? Because the time had not yet come for the Great Tribulation. But the Church in Philadelphia, if not for their patient endurance, they would be the ones going through the Great Tribulation.

But what I want you to focus on is what Jesus said at the end of the sentence. The hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. It’s not just the Church but the whole world. So, those who are helping bring this to come to pass, you will be right there sharing in the suffering that is coming. You will not escape. The elites, those running the show behind the curtain, don’t care about you. You’re just pawns to them.

Not only will you share in the suffering of the Great Tribulation, but something much worse is stored up for all those who do not accept Jesus as LORD and Savior. It’s called the Wrath of God. But the LORD promises that if you put your faith and trust in Him and you follow Him, He will come back for you. He’ll deliver you from the from the Wrath that is to come.

Dear LORD, please forgive me for my part in ushering in the coming Tribulation. Forgive me for being lukewarm. Forgive me for hiding the Light that is within me. Teach me to follow You. Teach me to let my Light shine before others. Prepare me for whatever might come my way. Strengthen me that I might be found doing what it is that You have called me to do so that I might escape Your coming Wrath. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

God’s Sloppy Wet Kiss

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16

As a child, I remember being in Tuesday Chapel morning service at school (I went to a Christian School). I remember I heard the chords to the worship song, How He Loves. I immediately got excited because I loved that song. Then they sang the words “Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss” instead of “Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss.” I wasn’t just annoyed that the lyrics were different; I didn’t understand why.

That was over a decade ago, and the changing of those lyrics still bothers me. I heard Crowder, the singer who changed the lyrics, say that it was because he wanted to sing it at his church but couldn’t because of that line. They claimed it was inappropriate for church. That it wasn’t a line to be sung in church. So, eventually, the line was changed by Crowder to “unforeseen kiss.”

Many people believe this is a much better and more appropriate description of Heaven meeting Earth, but I would have to disagree.

Unforeseen means: not anticipated or expected: not foreseen: UNEXPECTED

Is that an accurate description of Christ coming to Earth? Is that an accurate description of heaven meeting Earth? An unanticipated, unexpected kiss? No. It’s not. From creation, God had the coming of Christ, and His millennial reign throughout that story. Prophet after prophet was given the revelation of the coming Messiah and the giving of the Holy Spirit. It wasn’t unforeseen. It wasn’t a sweet, innocent kiss. It was a sloppy, wet kiss.

God became man to redeem those who would nail Him to a tree and mock Him as He bled and suffered. Then, not only was all of the sin of the world placed on Him, but  He Himself became sin in order to kill sin in His death. There is nothing unforeseen or innocent about Heaven meeting Earth. It was messy and emotional, just like a sloppy, wet kiss.

Why do we have to clean up God’s affection for us and put on this false representation of piety in order to worship? The Scripture isn’t an easy read. It’s not a book of innocent things, but it describes in detail what love looks like and what adultery against the one who loves you looks like. We miss the very essence of what God has done for us when we water down the Bible and the retelling of that Bible.

Dear LORD, please help me to not allow false piety and false religiosity to keep me from seeing You and Your sacrifice for what it is. Teach me to focus only on You during my time of worship and not allow my fear of what others might think to consume me and my thoughts. Give me confidence in You and who I am in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

You Can’t Fool God

8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. ~ Psalms 90:8

This is a Psalm written by Moses, the man of God, who spoke face-to-face with God and lived. He said that God brings all of our Secret Sins out into the light of His presence. What did Moses mean by that?

God is not fooled by our charades. Nor is He fooled by our playing church. Just because our sins may only be in our mind, in our thoughts, in our imagination, or done in the dark behind closed doors does not mean that God does not know about them.

You can fool some of the people most of the time, you can fool most of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool God any of the time. Make no mistake, the Scriptures teach us God will not be mocked, and neither can He be deceived. Therefore, don’t take His silence as weakness, for it is mercy in this present life.

Dear LORD, help me to place my heart before You. Show me the way to You. Help me not to deceive myself in believing that You don’t see my sins. Forgive me of each of my secret sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

You Don’t Have the Right

16 But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?” ~ Psalms 50:16

Listen to what God said to the wicked person, “What right do you have to recite My laws or to take up My covenant on your lips?” That is scary stuff. If a wicked person doesn’t have the right in this life to even recite God’s laws or to take up His covenant on their lips, how much more will they not have access to His promises after they die?

If you continue to reject God and His word, then God will reject you. It’s not that He doesn’t love you because He does. It’s not that He hasn’t given you the opportunity because He has. But today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow is not promised to any man.

But someone will say, “God has taken away our right to cite His laws or take up His covenant on our lips. Therefore, He has taken away our opportunity.”

No, not at all. What He is saying is you don’t have the right while you are still in your sins. If you had all of the privileges of salvation and all the rights of sonship without actually being redeemed, it would make you even more lost. That is the reason why God had to drive Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden after they sinned because He didn’t want them to stretch out their hand and eat from the Tree of Life. Why? Because they would be eternally lost in their sins. It’s all about mercy. It’s not God’s will that any perish. He wants everyone to accept His free gift of life that Jesus purchased when He was crucified on the cross at Golgotha.

Therefore, cleanse the inside, and the outside will follow. Be obedient in the commands of God, and you can partake of His holiness and participate in His promises. For then His eternal love will surround you, and the blood of Jesus will cleanse you.

Father, I have sinned. I know that I am not a perfect person. I’ve tried to mix the unclean with the clean. I repent of my sins and accept the free gift of Jesus Christ. Wash me in the precious blood of Jesus, that I might be clean. Thank You, LORD Jesus, for dying for me and redeeming me from darkness. Keep me in Your everlasting love and teach me to differentiate between light and darkness, good and evil, right and wrong. Guide me in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

The Accursed Things

12 Then they brought the captives and the plunder and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the people of Israel, at the camp on the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 13 Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation went to meet them outside the camp. 14 And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. 15 Moses said to them, “Have you let all the women live? 16 Behold, these, on Balaam’s advice, caused the people of Israel to act treacherously against the Lord in the incident of Peor, and so the plague came among the congregation of the Lord.” ~ Numbers 31:12-16

In the book of Numbers, Israel wars against Midian, the LORD commanded Moses to avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites. But when Israel went out to fight, they killed the kings, they killed the soldiers, but the women, they kept alive along with their children. They plundered all of Midian’s goods and destroyed and burned all of their encampments.

Then, after the fighting was finished and they came back to camp, the first thing that is listed is the captives. They brought the captives and the plunder to Moses and Eleazar and the congregation of the people of Israel. They brought the things that were devoted to destruction into the congregation of Israel. In other words, they brought the things of darkness into the presence of the LORD their God.

The soldiers brought the accursed things into their own territory and into the presence of God, knowing that it was this very thing; these were the very women who had caused Israel to sin against their God in the first place. This is the same thing we are doing when we bring:

  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Boards
  • Horoscopes
  • And yes, Halloween and its paraphernalia into our homes

We have essentially brought the accursed things into our lives, which opens up spiritual doors, just like Moses told the soldiers.

To the soldiers, it seemed like a small matter. They thought this is the most humane thing to do; Moses will be pleased with us. When in reality, they were displeasing the LORD.

We think the same way when we claim, oh, brother Kenny, get over yourself. It’s only a pumpkin; God isn’t gonna be angry with us for carving a silly pumpkin.

But that is how Satan presents evil. He makes it appear innocent. It’s nothing; God won’t even notice, much less care. Well, let me just tell you, God does notice, and God does care, and if it defiles you, then that is cause for discipline. Because whom God loves, God disciplines.

Father, open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my mind to understand and know the things that please You and the things that displease You that I may always be found in the center of Your good and perfect will. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

The Love Of Darkness

11 He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. ~ John 1:11

19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. ~ John 3:19

For 400 years, the Jews experienced a silence from God. There was no prophet. There was no word from the LORD. There was only silence. Then suddenly, John appeared on the scene, and then Jesus, God in the flesh, walked the path John cleared for Him. How did the Jews react? John the Apostle wrote that Jesus came to His own, but His own rejected Him. Jesus adds that they rejected Him because they loved the darkness more than the light in John 3:19. 400 years of silence had caused their hearts to grow cold, their ears to grow deaf, and their eyes to grow blind. The Messiah they had waited for from the time of Abraham was there in their midst, but they couldn’t recognize Him.

The Church is the same way today. We’ve been waiting for the return of Christ for the past 2,000 years. We’ve been waiting for Him to come to redeem us from the wickedness of this world so that we might be with Him forever and ever. As time passes by and with each and every new generation, the heart of the Church grows colder and colder. The eyes of the Church grow blinder and blinder. The ears of the Church grow deafer and dealer. We can no longer differentiate between good and evil. We even go as far as to desire to change the very Word of God in order to fit our own beliefs, wants, and desires.

Jesus is coming back real soon. Even if He doesn’t return in our lifetime, though I believe He will, we are each just one single breath away from eternity. Each breath we take is a gift from God, prolonging our lives. It’s His mercy and grace that keeps our hearts beating. Tomorrow is promised to no one. We can’t afford to allow our hearts to grow cold, our eyes to grow blind, and our ears to grow deaf. Where we spend eternity is solely up to what we do on this earth. If we deny Jesus with our words or actions, then He will deny us. We can’t afford to waste a single moment loving the darkness instead of loving the light.

Dear LORD, help me to not grow cold. Give me ears to hear, eyes to see, a mind to understand, and a heart willing to follow You regardless of how much it costs. Teach me to love You. Strengthen me so that I might not grow weary of doing good. That I might not lose hope. That I might not lose faith. That I might dwell in Your loving presence forever. Give me a spirit of discernment that I might know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness, no matter what those around me say. Teach me to follow Your voice and Your voice alone. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

The Silenced

Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” ~ Jeremiah 1:4-5

According to the WHO, around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year. This means 6 out of 10 (60%) of all unintended pregnancies (that’s 3 out of 10 (30%) of all pregnancies) end in induced abortion. The elites scream depopulation, so the innocent are murdered before they even get to take their first breath.

I heard the testimony of a woman who used to work at Planned Parenthood, and she had to quit after witnessing an abortion. She watched in horror as the baby struggled and fought to get away from the suction device used to rip him or her from his or her mother’s womb.

They brainwash our children to believe that these innocent babies are just parasites. They fill them with hatred and apathy from a young age so that when they’re older, they’ll fall in line. What can the Church really do to combat this atrocity? Pray. We have one option as Christians, and that’s to pray for our nation. To pray for our children. To pray for the innocent lives that are being slaughtered at record numbers.

Dear LORD, please forgive me for turning a blind eye to this genocide that is being committed worldwide and masked as health care and a woman’s right to choose. Please open the blind eyes of those who are in support of this evil. Let them see that these unborn babies aren’t just lumps of cells or parasites in their mothers’ wombs but living babies that You formed. That You have given a purpose to. Please open the eyes of men and women around the world so that we might put an end to this genocide. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

More Hope For A Fool

12 Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them. ~ Proverbs 26:12NIV

The Book of Proverbs is filled with many wise and deep passages. I didn’t necessarily understand or fully grasp what this proverb meant, which says there’s more hope for a fool than for a person wise in their own eyes, until a few days ago. See, we run our ministry predominantly online at the moment, which means we come in contact with a lot of people that we probably wouldn’t if we were just a physical ministry. And the more I come in contact with people, the more I understand what Solomon was saying.

See, David defines a fool as someone who says in his heart that there is no God (Psalms 14:1 & Psalms 53:1). It’s not someone who says it out loud. It’s not someone who shouts it from the rooftops. It’s someone who says it in his heart. When our actions don’t follow God’s laws, then we become fools because we are saying in our heart that there is no God. Why? Because this is how we are living our lives, as if there will be no one to stand before on Judgment Day to give an account for all that we have done and haven’t done.

Let that sink in for a second. There is more hope for that person who says that there is no God in their heart than a person who thinks they are wise. That used to baffle me. I couldn’t see how that was true, but the more people I come in contact with, the more I understand. See, the Church is filled with many people who are living their lives for Christ. Who follow the commands. Who do all of these good things, but they refuse to be corrected on Biblical matters because they believe they’re wiser than the one correcting them. They could have no evidence for their belief and be shown 15 different verses that prove their belief wrong, but they will refuse to accept it because they believe they’re wise.

But a fool simply doesn’t believe or lives his life as if he doesn’t believe. Solomon says that there is more hope for that person. Why? Because that person can be corrected. That person can be witnessed to. That person can be guided, but a person wise in their own eyes can’t do any of that. They can’t take correction. They can’t take guidance. They ignore sound teaching all because of their own pride.

Dear LORD, help me to be neither a fool nor wise in my own eyes. Help me to not think more of myself than I ought. Show me Your Truth and remove from me any false teachings that I cling to. Expose any darkness within me and shine Your Light through me. May the Light in me never be darkness, but may I be a Light for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Responsibility

39 They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the Lord’s sight. ~ Psalm 106:39 NLT

The Scripture comes right out and says, “They defiled themselves…” It wasn’t that they were tripped up or deceived into going that way. It wasn’t that someone tricked them, and they had no idea what was going on. It wasn’t even that they were innocent in all of this. But rather, God said they had defiled themselves.

There was no one to blame. They could lay the blame at no one’s feet except their own because it was they themselves who had knowingly defiled their own souls with their evil deeds. It was their own actions that defiled them, not somebody else’s, but their own. And it is the same with us today; we defile ourselves with our actions and with our words, but yet consider ourselves innocent. It’s not our fault, we say. I’m innocent in all of this.

In today’s society, no one wants to take responsibility for his or her actions, and our government and social media encourage it. It’s not your fault; you had a hard life. It’s not your fault; you were mistreated as a child. It’s not your fault; it’s your parents’ fault. It’s not your fault; your childhood was victimized. It’s not your fault; you were born that way. It’s not your fault; it is a disease. It’s not their fault; they are just acting out because they’ve been held down for so long. It’s not their fault; they’re the victim in all of this.

But the Scripture says that they did it themselves. They had defiled their own selves by their evil deeds. There was no one to blame. It is not someone else’s fault for you defiling your own self. Everyone has the responsibility to acknowledge his or her own deeds. Nobody else can accept responsibility for you; you must accept your own responsibility.

The Psalmist said, if I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the LORD would not have listened. It gives God no pleasure in punishing the guilty. He wants everyone to recognize and accept their own wrongdoing and repent and turn away.

Dear LORD, help me to take accountability for my actions. Help me not to blame others for my own mistakes and shortcomings. Help me not to cherish iniquity in my heart but to cherish Your Word in my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
