Stop Watering The Flame

40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And He said to Peter, ‘So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.’ ~ Matthew 26:40-41

The phrase ‘God loves me’ has become overused and has simply lost its true meaning. As the song, Chasing Cars, by Snow Patrol says:

Those Three Words
Are Said Too Much
They’re Not Enough

They may not be speaking about these three specific words, but the saying is still true. We love to justify our sin with that single phrase, ‘God loves me’ or ‘Jesus loves me.’ Yes, God loves you. Yes, Jesus loves you. But even though you are loved by God, you will still have to stand before Him on Judgment Day and give an account for your life.

Look at Peter. He was arguably Jesus’ best friend. His most beloved disciple, and yet, he’s the one Jesus calls out. Peter, James, and John were all asleep, but it was Peter that Jesus singled out. Jesus didn’t say, ‘I know you’re tired, Buddy. I’ll catch ya next time around.’ He didn’t say, ‘Don’t worry about it, Bro. I know you love me. It’s all good.’ No. Jesus called him out. He singled him out. Why? Could it be that Jesus expected more out of Peter? That Jesus expected Peter, His best friend, would stay awake? Jesus loved Peter, yet He still corrected him. He still warned him. He still disciplined him.

Why? Because He loved him. When you love someone, you correct them before it’s too late. You don’t watch them drive off the side of the cliff because they’re having fun pretending that their car is a flying car. No, you stop them. You try to correct them. You don’t just stand by and watch them kill themselves. We have to stop loving people straight into Hell. It’s time we start calling sin what it really is, SIN. We can’t keep watering down the Bible. If we don’t, it’ll lose all of its power. When you pour water on a flame, it dies down. Even if it’s hard, God gave us the Bible to follow because it is a powerful fire that helps mold us into the image of God.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Stop Watering The Flame.

Live Your Love

15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. ~ John 14:15

Love is an action, not a word. You can’t love someone and mistreat them. That’s what the commandments are, God’s way of showing us how to love Him. They aren’t a rule book of what not to do. It’s a guide to know how to love God and how to love people. Therefore, if you don’t keep the commands by following your own wants and desires, you won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Instead, you’ll be thrown into the Lake of Fire, in everlasting torment.

But the saving grace is that even if you committed any sin, you can still be saved. You don’t have to go to Hell. No matter what you’ve done. No matter how far you have run, God is still waiting for you to return to Him as a father waits for his wayward child to return home. The gift of salvation was already purchased for you on the cross by Jesus. All you have to do is repent and turn from your sin.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Live Your Love.

Find The Narrow Gate

13 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. ~ Matthew 7:13-14

The gate that leads to destruction is wide, and many follow it. Therefore, Hell is a place that many go to. Why? Because its way is easy. Its gates are wide. You don’t have to look for it. There’s no searching needed. It’s the road we all start out on. It’s the default road.

This is why we had no chance before Christ came. Because we were all guilty of sin. None of us were innocent. But Christ came, and He made a way for us to find the narrow gate. The narrow road. That road is hard. It’s difficult. There’s obstacles and tests. There’s persecution and tribulation, but at the end of the road, there’s life everlasting. There’s eternal peace and joy like no other.

Life and death have been set before us. It’s up to us to choose. So, choose wisely. The road to death is easy, and many are on it. The road to life is hard, but God is with us through it all, and few find it. It’s never too late to find the road to life. All you have to do is accept His forgiveness.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Find The Narrow Gate.

It’s Your Turn

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ~ Revelation 3:20

So many have watered down the Scriptures and led others away. We no longer teach that you can’t love God unless you follow His commands. You can’t know His commands if you don’t have a relationship with Him. And you can’t have a relationship with Him unless you seek one. Look at what Jesus said; He’s standing at the door, knocking and calling out to you. He’s waiting for you to answer Him. Why?

Because He already did His part. He gave up everything, including His life, so that you may live. He truly loves you and wants you to have Eternal Life. He took your sin on Himself. It’s now your turn. You have to choose Him. You have to open the door to your heart and let Him in. All you have to do is repent, and you will be set free.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Take Your Turn.

Leave Your Filth

Whoever says ‘I know Him’ but does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps His word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in Him: whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked. ~ 1 John 2:4-6

According to John, it’s not enough to just say that you love Jesus. In fact, you can’t even say that you know Him unless you follow Him. John goes as far as to call anyone who says they know Jesus but doesn’t follow Him and walk in His ways a liar. In our world today, so many people claim to love God. They thank Him at all the award shows. They talk about being blessed by Him in their music, but they live their lives as if He doesn’t even exist.

As we just read, John states that you don’t know God if you live in sin. He doesn’t say if you mess up but keep getting up and fight to overcome your sin. He says that if you live in sin, just give in to it and make it your norm, then you don’t even know God. So, here’s a thought, how can you love someone that you don’t even know? How can you have a relationship with someone you’ve never met?

The return of Christ is right around the corner. Don’t let Him come back to find you still wallowing in your filth. Run home to your Heavenly Father. Let Him wash you clean and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. He already paid the price; all you have to do is accept it by repenting of your sins and confessing that Jesus Christ is LORD.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Leave Your Filth.

Abide in the Love of God

[Love] does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:6.

Love doesn’t rejoice in wrongdoing; it can’t accept wrongdoing. Love can only abide in the Truth. So, we can’t say God loves me; therefore, He will never punish me for my sins. Because Jesus didn’t just say, ‘I love you, go and live your life.’ Jesus said, ‘I love you, now abide in my love or you will abide in my wrath. It’s your choice.’

See, even though God’s steadfast love never ceases, at some point in time, the Last Judgment will happen. It’s not because God hates you, but because you chose to live your life outside of His never-ending, steadfast love that never ceases. We’re each given a certain amount of time on this earth, and what we do with that time is up to us. Don’t waste the time you’re given. You never know when your time may come to an end.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Abide in the Love of God.

Grasp Salvation Today

19b And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. ~ Exodus 33:19

Honestly, at face value, this statement sounds rather harsh. In fact, it almost sounds sinister, but when you actually look at who God is and how He works, you understand that it isn’t harsh or sinister at all. God sets in place rules for the entire Universe to abide by, and there are consequences to breaking God’s rules.

Now, if we repent, He promises us that He will have mercy on us. This is why He says He will show mercy on whom He will show mercy because not everyone humbles themselves before Him. Why? Because not everyone repents. Today is the day of Salvation; tomorrow is promised to no man, no woman, no teen, no child. Tomorrow is promised to no one. Today is the only day you have to repent. Don’t take it for granted because tomorrow may never come.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Grasp Salvation Today.

Take Your One Opportunity

27b … it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. ~ Hebrews 9:27b

When I was a child, it seemed like Christmas came every two years. Now, it seems like Christmas comes every six months. You can hardly put away Christmas decorations when we are hauling them out again. And now, with the time just flying by, it is easy to keep putting off your relationship with God without realizing, “Oops, you’re out of time.”

Today is the day of repentance; tomorrow is promised to no man, or woman, or child.

That is why it is so extremely important that you understand that we only have this one opportunity to get it right. I cannot stress that enough.

We only have one chance at the life we’re given, and our lives aren’t long. Each generation seems to die younger and younger. We’ve got one chance to live our lives for Christ. One opportunity to reach as many lost souls as possible.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Take Your One Opportunity.

Give All

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him. ~ 1 Kings 19:19-21

The Chicken and the Pig were passing a church on a country road, where they saw a sign reading:

Charity meals for the poor, please contribute.

“Sounds like a worthy cause; let’s contribute a ham-and-egg breakfast.” Said the Chicken to the Pig.

“Madam, for you that would be a contribution, for me a total commitment.” Responded the Pig, thoughtfully.

When we follow Jesus, it can’t just be a contribution. It has to be a total commitment. We can’t follow Jesus and follow science because it’s more updated, as well as the Buddhist teachings for zen, or any other teaching. We can only follow one at a time. We can’t follow Jesus as well as other people. There is only one Good Shepherd. There can only be one shepherd leading the sheep. You can only have one God.

When we say we are Christians and we follow Christ, we have to follow Him with everything in us. We have to give Him our all. We can’t give Him a half offering like Cain. We have to give Him our very best. God is a jealous God. Why? We are His bride. If He wasn’t jealous of us cheating on Him with sin, there would be a problem.

Christianity is a relationship. It’s all or nothing.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Give All.

Live As Christ

1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. ~ Proverbs 14:1

We often quote this verse when speaking to or about people who don’t believe in God, but is that really what Solomon is talking about? On the surface, we could say a fool is anyone who believes that there is no God. But let’s take a closer look at what the verse says, 1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” The fool says in his HEART, not his mind. We can say we believe that there is a God. We can even say that we believe in the one and only God. The God of Israel, but that doesn’t mean that we have not said in our heart there is no God.

See, from our heart comes our actions. If our actions are sinful and evil, then our heart says that there is no God. There is no punishment, no judgment for our sins. We were all once fools, even if we grew up in Church. Even if we were never atheists, we were all once sinners. It’s not about what you say; it’s about the way you act. The way you live your life. So, if we don’t want to live as fools, then we must live our lives for Christ. We have to live as Christ lived His.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Live As Christ.
