The Trinity: The Father

The Trinity can be a confusing idea, yet an important one. It’s the core belief of all Christians. We believe God is made up of three separate entities: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. We believe in the Godhead, but do we understand what that means? Is it possible to explain The Trinity to non-believers? Can we even explain it to each other?

Who is the Father? Is He Yahweh? Is Yahweh the same as Allah? Who is Jehovah? ArieRashelle takes on the challenge to explain the Trinity by proving each member’s God status starting with The Father in this three-part series.

The Trinity: The Father

God The Father

Within the Trinity, there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

See that there be no one who shall lead *you* away as a prey through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the teaching of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and ye are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and authority, 11 in whom also ye have been circumcised with circumcision not done by hand, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of the Christ; 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which ye have been also raised with [Him] through faith of the working of God who raised Him from among the dead.

Colossians 2:8-12

Some of the Father’s Roles in the Trinity

21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’

Matthew 7:21-22

49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has Himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak.

John 12:49

More on The Fulfillment of The Kinsman Redeemer

31 Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Jeremiah 31:31-34

11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) 12 He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of His own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

15 Therefore He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. 16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established.

Hebrews 9:11-16

19 And He took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”

Jesus Our Kinsman Redeemer

The Jesus Piece

Why Jesus had to be sacrificed?

But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, He said,

“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”

When He said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), then He added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second.

Hebrews 10:3-9

Why Jesus had to come as a man in order to save us?

21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

The Blood of Jesus

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

Galatians 6:15-16

14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

Ephesians 2:14-16

22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

The Order of Creation

God created everything in a specific order. Why?

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

Genesis 1:1-5

God created heaven and earth before He created anything else. Why? Why didn’t He created the sun first? Why did He wait for day 4 to create the sun?

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

The Creation Story Pt. 2: The Creation of Man

God created man in His own image. After He found no mate for the man He had created, God created woman. If God created man and woman, when did they evolve? Genesis 2:21-22

Just to clarify, the word Heavens in Genesis 1:1 is not actually a plural word when going back to the Hebrew. We firmly believe that only the Third Heaven (and Earth) was created at the time Genesis 1:1 is referring to, not the other two heavens discussed in the video above.

The Creation of Man

Science teaches us that man evolved out of apes. But is that what God has told us?

The Creation Story: God first created man

When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Genesis 2:5-7

The Creation Story: Then God created woman

18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19 Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.

Genesis 2:18-22

Then They Became One Flesh

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 2:24

According to Scripture, man did not evolve. He was created in the image of God. If Scripture does not support evolution, then evolution cannot be deemed true. Instead, it is a lie sold to us by the enemy. We did not evolve, we were created. Formed by the creator Himself.

Is Belief Enough?

46 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, His mother and His brothers stood outside, asking to speak to Him. 48 But He replied to the man who told Him, ‘Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?’ 49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’

Matthew 12:46-50

If we want inheritance with Christ, then we have to be spiritually related to Christ. The only way to do that is to do the will of the Father. Belief isn’t enough on its own. Faith without action is dead. We have to have action behind our faith. Each of us has a specific calling, as well as an overall calling.

All of us are called to be fishers of men. We are to win souls. Why? Because that is the overall will of the Father.

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.

John 3:16-17

God’s will is that none should perish but all come to repentance. That is the overall will of the Father. We are all called to win souls for Christ.

The Creation Story Pt. 1: How Old Is The Earth?

We all know Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” But do we all know what that means? Do we understand what Moses meant when he said, And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3). Or maybe when he said, And God said, ‘Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.’ And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.” How about evolution, is it fact or fiction? How old is the Earth? Does the Bible even say how old the earth is? Why did Moses say ‘evening then morning,’ if there was no sun? So, join Rev. Kenny Yates as he uncovers the truth behind the Creation Story in part one, How Old Is The Earth, of his four-part series, The Creation Story.

How Old is the Earth?

Does the Bible really say how old the earth is? The Bible starts with the words in the beginning.

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

If the Bible starts with, in the beginning, then wouldn’t it make sense that the Bible gives us the age of the earth?

But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Is There More?: We Must Be Pure

If belief isn’t enough, what more is there?

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Matthew 5:8

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Philippians 4:8

As the body of Christ, we must be pure. Pure in our actions, our thoughts, our speech. We must be pure.

Is There More?: We Must Be Biblically Correct

So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Ezekiel 33:7-9

In other words, you can’t be a Christian in speech only. You have to be a Christian in your actions. You have to correct sin, even if it offends. Look what God said about being a friend of the world.

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?

James 4:4-5

We can’t put the feelings of the world over or before the righteousness of God. God has to come first, or He is no longer your God. Whatever you put before God has taken His place in your life and has become your god.
