8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And he said to his people, “Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. 10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.” 11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. They built for Pharaoh store cities, Pithom and Raamses. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel. 13 So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel work as slaves 14 and made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and brick, and in all kinds of work in the field. In all their work they ruthlessly made them work as slaves. 22 Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, “Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.” ~ Exodus 1:8–14, 22
The Spirit of Pharoah attaches itself to the ruling class, and it influences those in power. That is, the ones making the laws and the decisions for the rest of the country. In other words, the elites. It seeks to oppress all who are not of itself. Those who are not of that same spirit.
The problem is, however, those under them, under the elites, are all collateral damage. It’s a very selfish spirit that deals in fear. Matter of fact, fear is the main weapon it uses to control people and have its will done. It’s a “my will be done” spirit. How does it do this? By presenting itself as looking out for the best interest of those it attaches itself to.
Look, the Israelites are too numerous and too powerful. If war breaks out, they will side up with the enemy and fight against us, and we will be conquered. The best thing we can do for you, to keep you safe, is to kill all the baby boys.
Not only does this spirit deal in fear, but this spirit does not know Joseph. In other words, it does not acknowledge Joseph. It only knows or acknowledges the brothers of Joseph, and their prosperity does not escape its notice.
Now please understand that Joseph was not the Christ, but he is a “type of Christ.” And if so, then the brothers of Joseph would be us, the Christians. The Spirit of Pharaoh does not rise up until the brothers of Joseph, who are free to prosper and contribute to society, begin to grow and increase and prosper. Christians have been prospering in the US for many years. And sure enough, the more we prosper, the more the spirit of Pharaoh has taken charge and become more blatant in our society. The only way to overcome this spirit is to cry out to the LORD for deliverance. It wasn’t until the people cried out to the LORD that the people of Israel were sent a deliverer.
Are you seeing the coming oppression? Are you seeing the taskmasters being set up against us? Don’t wait until we’re completely enslaved to cry out to God. Cry out to God now. Call on His name for mercy and deliverance so that He might remember His people and save us before the coming oppression.
Peace. Love. Go Forth and Call On The LORD.
