15 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ~ 2 Kings 6:15-17
Sometimes fear overcomes us, blinding us from the truth. Fear covers our eyes so that we can’t see God on our side. When God is on your side, nothing can stand against you. Fear knows that so it weasels its way in and strikes fear through our bodies, blinding our sight so we can’t see the force of heavenly hosts that have come to our rescue. Fear does this to not only knock us down but to keep us down as well. Fear is sometimes our biggest enemy because it separates us from our call and keeps us stuck in a state of unproductivity, so we never move forward.
Though fear is frightening, it isn’t unstoppable. Even when you’re surrounded by the enemy, God is still with you. In the wise words of Michael W. Smith, “It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You.” You may look surrounded, but for every enemy surrounding you, there are more allies ready to defend you. You just have to turn your eyes from focusing on fear and focus on God. Look to God and pray that He will show you your way out. Pray that He will show you your allies. Fear will make you feel as if you have to fight alone and that God is not there, don’t listen to Fear, you are not alone. God promised He would never leave you or forsake you. So be encouraged, for Fear will never win, unless YOU let him.
Peace. Love. Go Forth and Open Your Eyes.
