Two Roads

During His earthly ministry, Jesus taught that there are two roads set before each of us. A narrow road and a broad road. One He said leads to Eternal Life, the other He said leads to Eternal Death. In our world today, there seem to be more than just two roads. There seem to be several different journeys that people claim all lead to the same destination, but is this true? Does it matter which journey we take as long as we are aiming for a certain destination? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he explains both roads and the destinations of each in his message, Two Roads.

Matthew 7:13-14
Hebrews 10:25
2 timothy 3:1-7
Luke 13:23-30

Two Roads

In life, we are each given two roads to choose from, a narrow road and a broad road. Each road has a different journey and destination.

13 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

John 14:6-7

15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:15-17

According to Jesus, there is only one way to the Father. There is only one way to Eternal Life, and that is through Jesus Christ. Choosing to live outside of the love and will of Jesus will lead you to Eternal Death. So choose the road less traveled by that leads to Christ Jesus.

And They Troubled The City Exceedingly, There’s No Other Plan

When we are told we shouldn’t speak about Jesus, should we listen? Saint Francis of Assisi is attributed with saying, “Preach the Gospel always, and when necessary use words.” But was he right? Is that what we as Christians are called to do? Preach the Gospel without using words? Join Rev. Kenny Yates as he sheds some light on how Christians are called to preach the Gospel in his message And They Troubled The City Exceedingly, There’s No Other Plan.

Acts 4:19-20

And They Troubled The City Exceedingly, There’s No Other Plan

We have to trouble the city exceedingly until we see a shift in the natural because of the supernatural. We can’t expect to plant seeds and harvest souls until you move the city until you disturb the spirits that are there. There’s no other plan. There’s no other way. We have to trouble the city exceedingly in order to see a change in our world.

17 She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” 18 And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become [distressed], turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.

19 But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. 20 And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are Jews, and they are disturbing our city. 21 They advocate customs that are not lawful for us as Romans to accept or practice.”

Acts 16:17-21

We can’t disturb the city unless we use our words. Life and death lie in the power of the tongue. Saint Francis of Assisi seemed to miss the entire purpose of the Great Commission. Jesus tells us to preach the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. We can’t do this unless we use our words because how can they believe in whom they have never heard of?

A Hunger For More

We hunger for more money. A big house. More kids. A beautiful wife. A handsome husband. But do we ever hunger for more of God? We no longer seek more of God. We’re content right where we are spiritually. Why? Why has the hunger for God dwindled in our lives? What happened to the flame we had when we were first saved? A Hunger For More

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near; let the wicked forsake His way, and the unrighteous man His thoughts; let Him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on Him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:6-7

For He says,

“In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:7-8

2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5 Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

Getting Jesus’ Attention: In The Midst of The Crowd

46 And they came to Jericho. And as He (Jesus) was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; He is calling you.” 50 And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed Him on the way.

How to Get Jesus’ Attention

22 One day He got into a boat with His disciples, and He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, 23 and as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. 24 And they went and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even winds and water, and they obey Him?”

Luke 8:22-25

16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:

17 ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20 the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

Burn The Ships

When God calls us, do we run to Him or drag our feet? Oftentimes, we are afraid to burn our ships. We’re afraid to get rid of our safety net in case this “Christian Thing” doesn’t work out. Or maybe our ships are our sins that are holding us back. Or maybe it’s painful memories from our past that we can’t seem to let go of in order to make it to the next level. Join Rev. Kenny Yates as he teaches us the importance of burning our ships in his fiery message entitled Burn The Ships.

Burn The Ships

When Elijah called Elisha, Elisha got rid of all backup plans. He burned all of his ships.

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

AI: The City of Adultery and Idolatry

At some point in time, we all will have a battle with AI (Adultery and Idolatry). For some of us, this is a battle we have to face every single day. For others, it will only be once or twice; nevertheless, the battle at AI is an important one. Most people don’t believe that you can overcome adultery and/or idolatry, but is that true? How do you overcome idolatry and adultery? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he brings this fiery message opening our eyes to the Do’s and Don’ts when fighting AI.

AI: The City of Adultery and Idolatry

Recap: How Do You Defeat Adultery and Idolatry?

    • Joshua laid an ambush between AI and Bethel, that way, he included God (God must always be involved with our spiritual fight and tactics)
    • Then the army fled from AI (We are always instructed to flee AI, ALWAYS!)
    • Once the way is cleared, by fleeing, then God’s ambush swoops in, destroying and burning AI to the ground

The Armor Of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Ephesians 6:10-20
    • Helmet of Salvation
    • Sword of The Spirit
    • Shield of Faith
    • Belt of Truth
    • Breastplate of Righteousness
    • Shoes of Peace

Just To Clarify

Reverend Kenny Yates does not believe that only men struggle with AI, nor does he believe that only men read into things and turn them sexual. He was simply speaking, at that time, from a man’s point of view to those type of men, since he is a man. We, as The HoldToHope Family, believe that Adultery and Idolatry see no gender, but leech on to any unsuspecting, unshielded person that they can.

Second Chances Pt. 2: The Second Touch

1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Second Chances Pt. 1: The Second Time Around

We’ve all fallen down. We’ve all made mistakes that don’t deserve forgiveness but thank God we serve a God that does not give us what we deserve. Instead, He gives us mercy. We don’t deserve it, if we did, it would not be mercy. He doesn’t give us justice because justice would be an eternity in Hell for our sins, but mercy. Mercy is what He gives us lovingly. “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” What exactly does that mean? What was God trying to say? That we can get away with whatever we want and still go to Heaven? Or is there a deeper meaning to this verse from Hosea? How does it affect us in today’s world? God Desires All To Have a Second Chance

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.

For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Hosea 6:6

10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when He heard it, He said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
