The Authority of The Name of Jesus

It’s been said that the Church no longer has any power. Yet others say that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in us. If that’s true, where does that power come from? Is there power in the Holy Spirit? Do we still have that authority today in the name of Jesus? Or was the power of the Church for another time? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the Truth in his fiery message, The Authority of The Name of Jesus.

The Authority of The Name of Jesus

Authority in Jesus

18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.

Matthew 18:18-20

17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Luke 10:17-20

The Power of the Holy Spirit

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.

What’s In A Name Anyway? Pt. 2: The Name of Jesus

There is by no other name that we can be saved. Only Jesus’ name can save us from our sin, yet we have demeaned His name. We’ve lowered Him below prophets when He is the Son of The Living God. Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he wraps up this two-part series, What’s In A Name Anyway?, showing us the importance and reverence of the Name of Jesus.

Importance of Names in the Bible

The Name of Jesus

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11

Names have weight. They are important. Jesus has a name so powerful, that He alone knows it.

12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems, and He has a name written that no one knows but Himself.

Revelation 19:12

24 And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. 25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” 27 And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” 28 Then he said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.” 29 Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, “Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him. 30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

Genesis 32:24-30

Name Changes in the Bible

Abram and Sarai

Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you.

Genesis 17:4-6

15 And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”

Genesis 17:15-16

Jacob

30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.” 31 The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip.

Genesis 32:24-30

Joseph of Cyprus

36 Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37 sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Acts 4:36-37

Simon, James, and John

16 He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter); 17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);

What’s In A Name Anyway? Pt 1: The Names

We may all have different beliefs, identities, skills, and talents, but one thing that we all share in common is that we have a name, and that name has a meaning. From Ancient times parents would name their children according to what was happening around them, how they felt at the time, or the character-trait they wanted their child to embody. Names were so significant that the name of God wasn’t uttered or even entirely written down because it was so Holy and mighty. Join Reverend Kenny Yates in his latest message series, “What’s In A Name Anyway? Pt 1: The Name of The LORD,” as he searches through Scripture to show the significance and power of names.

Verses on Holiness

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.

Ephesians 1:3-4

19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:19-22

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that He might present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Ephesians 5:25-28

God doesn’t just expect us to dress ‘holy’ but to act holy. He expects us to live a holy life. God doesn’t just expect it of us either. Instead, God died for our sins and washed us clean in the cleansing power of His blood so that we could be brought back to holiness as He intended for us to be from the beginning.

LORD Where Are You?

When things go wrong, one of our first responses is, ‘Where is God?’ How could God allow bad things to happen to us? How could He sit by and watch while we suffer? Does God even care? All of these questions have crossed each and every one of our minds at least once in our lives. It’s our human nature. We struggle understanding ways that are higher than our ways, which leads us to feel alone and abandoned. But is that true? Has God abandoned us? LORD Where Are You?

Has God Abandoned Us?

15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

John 14:15-20

Where is the LORD God?

16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 3:16

15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, 18 and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

2 Corinthians 6:15-18

Does God Care?

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Recognizing the Enemy Pt. 3: Baal and Asherah

According to the Bible, the ancient Israelites continuously fell prey to the worship of Baal and Asherah (Ashtaroth). They did many abominations in the eyes of the LORD, but have we thousands of years later done the same? Do we know what our enemy looks like? Can we spot them in a crowd? Or are they able to blend in, going unnoticed and unopposed? Baal and Asherah in the Bible

Who is Baal?

Baal in the Bible is a god that blatantly tries to merge himself with Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

16 And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ 17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be remembered by name no more.

Hosea 2:16-17

The people of Israel were mixing Yahweh, the one True God, The Great I Am, with the false god, Baal. Going as far as to even call Yahweh, ‘My Baal.’

Who is Asherah?

When the worship of Asherah or Ashtaroth is mentioned in the Bible, it is in connection to the Asherim.

25 That night the Lord said to him, ‘Take your father’s bull, and the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it 26 and build an altar to the Lord your God on the top of the stronghold here, with stones laid in due order. Then take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah that you shall cut down.’ 27 So Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as the Lord had told him. But because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night.

Judges 6:25-32

They would carve a wooden pole and then proceed to either place in the Temple of Baal, on the rooftops, or near the houses somewhere. Now when it comes to Baal, we see that a pillar or an arch represents Baal. And the interesting thing about this is that Ashtaroth is female, while Baal is male. It would make more sense for Baal to be represented by the pole or pillar and Ashtaroth represented by the arch. Could this tie into the sexual immorality that was a part of the worship of both Baal and Ashtaroth?

Recognizing The Enemy Pt. 2: Molech

As Christians, we have more than one enemy, but can we recognize them? Something we have to understand is that spirits never die, they simply adjust to the culture they abide in. In part one, we discussed the ancient spirit, Mammon, the Chaldean god of money, who seems to be behind most other false gods. Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to another ancient enemy the Church still has today, Molech (Moloch), in our second part of our three-part series, Recognizing The Enemy Pt. 2: Molech.

Recognizing The Enemy Pt. 2: Molech

If spirits never die, then Molech (Moloch) is still present in our society. Instead of sacrificing their children on an altar, our society has made it a medical procedure and a woman’s right to choose. Abortion is nothing more than sacrificing your child on the altar to either Molech (Moloch) or Baal, the ‘fetus’ is a living, breathing baby.

1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death, then I will set my face against that man and against his clan and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in whoring after Molech.”

Recognizing The Enemy Pt. 1: Mammon

As Christians, when we talk about our enemy, we think about one being, Satan or the Devil. An invisible being that many Christians no longer even believe in, but instead feel as though he was more of a symbol of evil. But are these two main beliefs true? Is there only one enemy? Is he really only a symbol of evil? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he shines some light on this subject in the first message of his fiery three-part series, Recognizing The Enemy Pt. 1: Mammon.

2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Take The Blinders Off

Have the Church’s spiritual eyes grown shut? Have we lost our way? Have we become a modern-day Eli, watching as sin corrupts our world, our country, our city, our churches, our homes, and have done nothing? As a Church, have we allowed the flame that was once strong, was once burning on fire for God, have we allowed that flame to grow dim to almost nothing? Join Rev. Kenny Yates as he reveals today’s Church’s connection to Eli and his two sons in his eye-opening message, Take The Blinders Off.

Take The Blinders Off

Eli was the judge of those days, yet the Word of the LORD was scarce. He didn’t hear from the LORD often because he allowed unrighteousness to reign free in his own household. Eli’s two sons were wicked, yet he did nothing to correct this. This is how the Church is becoming today. We no longer hear from God the way the early Church did because we allow the unrighteousness to dwell with God. We have to take the blinders off and stand for righteousness.

1 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision. At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.

1 Samuel 3:1-3

12 On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God, and he did not restrain them. 14 Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.

Passion

We can do as much good work as we want, but unless we have a desire for God it’s not worth anything. We have to have a love for God that burns as hot as fire.

I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
