The Persecuted Victims of Torture

Every 5 minutes, a Christian is murdered for their faith. All around the world, people are being tortured for their beliefs and/or political stances. In fact, people are being tortured for no reason at all. What do we as Christians do when it comes to persecution of the Church (other Christians) or others in general? Do we stand up for what’s right? Are we a voice for the voiceless? Do we pray for the persecuted Church? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the desire of God in his message, The Persecuted Victims of Torture.

Matthew 24:9โ€“13

The Persecuted Victims of Torture

Where In Scripture Does It Talk About The Victims of Torture?

31ย When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him,ย then He will sit on His glorious throne.ย 32ย Before Himย will be gatheredย all the nations, andย He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separatesย the sheep from the goats.ย 33ย And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left. 34ย Thenย the King will say toย those on His right, โ€˜Come, youย who are blessed by my Father,ย inheritย the kingdomย prepared for youย from the foundation of the world.ย 35ย Forย I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and youย gave me drink,ย I was a stranger and you welcomed me,ย 36ย I was naked and you clothed me,ย I was sick and youย visited me,ย I was in prison and you came to me.โ€™

37ย Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, โ€˜Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?ย 38ย And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?ย 39ย And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?โ€™ย  40ย Andย the King will answer them,ย โ€˜Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of theseย my brothers,ย you did it to me.โ€™

How Is This About Victims of Torture?

According to Jesus, how we treat the Church, especially the persecuted Church, will be how we treat Him. Jesus isn’t physically on this earth anymore. He now lives through us, His Church. So, when the judge, Jesus, tells them they have done well because they took care of the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick, and prisoner. Jesus isn’t talking about a physical act. This is a spiritual action. This is ministering. Verse 44 confirms this. Jesus is saying that we need to have compassion and love for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ that are victims of torture because of their faith. Those who are being persecuted for their faith. How do we do that? We pray for the persecuted church. We lift their name up before the throne of Heaven.

And If We don’t?

41ย Then He will say to those on His left,ย โ€˜Depart from me, youย cursed, intoย the eternal fire prepared forย the devil and his angels.ย 42ย Forย I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,ย 43ย I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.โ€™

44ย Then they also will answer, saying, โ€˜Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?โ€™ 45ย Then He will answer them, saying, โ€˜Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these,ย you did not do it to me.โ€™ย 46ย And these will go awayย into eternal punishment, but the righteousย intoย eternal life.

Dads Represent

Over the last few decades, fathers have become more and more absent from their childrenโ€™s lives. Many children today donโ€™t have a father figure in their life anymore. In fact, many donโ€™t even have a male presence in their life to help guide them. Thereโ€™s a rise in gang violence, children and young adults getting arrested, fights, and shootings in schools. Could this be connected to the rise in father absence in our homes today? According to our ever-changing culture, fathers arenโ€™t important to the family, but is this true? Are fathers replaceable? Is a father necessary to have in the household? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the importance of a father in his Fatherโ€™s Day Message, Dads Represent. Happy Fathers Day!

Proverbs 15:5

Dads Represent

Importance of Fathers

Dads represent our Heavenly Father while we’re here on earth. Fathers lead and teach the household in the ways of righteousness.

12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Exodus 20:12

7ย The righteous [man] whoย walks in his integrityโ€”blessed are his children after him!

Proverbs 20:7

The Love of a Father

Fathers are to love their children as the LORD loves us.

11ย My son, do not despise the LORDโ€™s discipline, and do not resent His rebuke,ย 12ย because the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Proverbs 3:11-12

20ย And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, andย ran andย embraced him andย kissed him.ย 21ย And the son said to him, โ€˜Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.ย I am no longer worthy to be called your son.โ€™ 22ย But the father said to his servants,ย โ€˜Bring quicklyย the best robe, and put it on him, and putย a ring on his hand, andย shoes on his feet.ย 23ย And bringย the fattened calf and kill it, andย let us eat and celebrate.ย 24ย For this my sonย was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.โ€™ And they began to celebrate.

What Manner of Man is This Pt. 2: Jesus Is God

2,000 years ago, the Jews had their own idea of who the Messiah was supposed to be. Because of this, many missed the first coming of Jesus. Today we are in the same boat as the Jews were 2,000 years ago. As the world gets closer to the return of Christ, who Jesus was and who He is gets more and more blurred with each generation. We have our own preconceptions of who we believe Jesus should be that we could miss the second coming of Christ. 1ย In the beginning wasย the Word, andย the Word was with God, andย the Word was God.ย 2ย He was in the beginning with God.ย 3ย All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made.ย 4ย In Him was life,ย andย the life was the light of men.ย 5ย The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 14ย Andย the Wordย became flesh andย dwelt among us,ย and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Sonย from the Father, full ofย grace andย truth.

John 1:1-5, 14

12ย Behold,ย I am coming soon,ย bringing my recompense with me,ย to repay each one for what he has done.ย 13ย I am the Alpha and the Omega,ย the first and the last,ย the beginning and the end.

The Power of Jesus

It is only through Jesus, the Son of God, that we can be saved. It’s only in Him that there is Salvation for both the Jew and the Gentile. It’s only in His name that we can ask the Father and the Father answers us. It’s all only through Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

18ย And Jesus came and said to them,ย โ€œAll authorityย in heaven and on earth has been given to me.ย 19ย Go therefore andย make disciples ofย all nations,ย baptizing themย inย the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,ย 20ย teaching themย to observe all thatย I have commanded you. Whereโ€™s the Power?

The Feast of Shavuot was celebrated from the time of Moses. When the Day of Pentecost (Shavuot) had come in its entirety, the followers of Christ were together in one accord in the Upper Room. When they were in the Upper Room, the Holy Spirit came and filled all in the Upper Room with the Holy Spirit and His power. 2,000 years later, what happened to the power of the Holy Spirit that came down and filled those in the Upper Room? They Died For Freedom

Every year we celebrate Memorial Day in honor of our fallen soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom, but is that freedom slowly being taken away? Are those with power and authority in our government looking out for our best interest? Are we repeating mistakes of the past? How do we differentiate between good and evil? They Died For Freedom

Standing Up For Freedom

There are some who don’t believe that we should honor those who died for our freedom, but according to Jesus, this is no greater love than to die for another.

13ย There is no greater love than to lay down oneโ€™s life for oneโ€™s friends.

John 15:13

It’s because of their sacrifice that we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have today. It’s because of their sacrifice that we aren’t murdered for our faith as the early Church was. It’s because of their sacrifice that we don’t have to live in fear that we will be killed for our faith, as those in different parts of the world are today. They died for our freedom so that we can freely make a stand for Christ without the fear of punishment that Peter and John endured.

18ย So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.ย 19ย But Peter and John answered them,ย โ€œWhether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,ย 20ย forย we cannot but speak of whatย we have seen and heard.โ€

Acts 4:18-20

So, this Memorial Day, don’t forget the fallen men and women that gave us the freedom we have today in America. Honor their memory by standing up for freedom. Honor their memory by making a stand for your faith.

23ย And when He was entered into a ship, His disciples followed Him. 24ย And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. 25ย And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26ย And He saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. 27ย But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!

Promises of God

God promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He promises that He will always be with us, and when a storm comes our way, He is our strong tower, for He is the master of all storms.

10ย The name of theย Lordย isย a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it andย is safe.

Proverbs 18:10

24ย Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be likeย a wise man who built his house on the rock.ย 25ย And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.ย 26ย And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be likeย a foolish man who built his house on the sand.ย 27ย And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

How to Overcome

The only way we can overcome the obstacles and trials of the world is if we stand on the promises of God. We have to quote the Scriptures to build up our spirits. Here are some encouraging Scriptures to remember and quote.

5ย The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:5

Carry Him to His Mother

Happy Motherโ€™s Day. In todayโ€™s society, itโ€™s easy to overlook mothers and their importance in the family when society continuously tells us that to be a mother is an easy and/or pointless job. But what exactly is a mother? And what is the role of a mother? And is a mother important in the family? 18ย When the child had grown, he went out one day to his father among the reapers.ย 19ย And he said to his father, โ€œOh,ย my head, my head!โ€ The father said to his servant, โ€œCarry him to his mother.โ€

2 Kings 4:18-19

During the time of Elisha, there was a Shunammite woman who had no son, and her husband was old, but every time Elisha was in her area, she fed him and even built a room special for him. So, as a thank you, Elisha blessed her with a son. Now, when the child had grown, one day he hurt his head, immediately the father told the servant to carry him to his mother. Why? Because the father knew that mothers had the intuition from God about what to do for their children and how to take care of them. It was because of this that Elisha was able to raise the boy from the dead and give the woman her son back.

Who Do Men Say That I Am?

God is the Master of the Storm

Today Jesus is painted in many different ways. Some say He was a good man, while others say that He was a rebel. Some say He was a prophet, while others say He was God incarnate. 2,000 years ago, Jesus asked His disciples the same question, โ€œWho do people say the Son of Man is?โ€ Who is Jesus? The Importance of Declaring Who Jesus Is

But what does it say? โ€œThe word is near you, in your mouth and in your heartโ€ (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

The Price of Doing and the Cost of Ignoring Pt. 3: We Do Not Want This Man To Reign Over Us

The Scripture says that the world is the LORDโ€™S, yet the world has turned its back on the LORD. The world hates Jesus Christ and His teachings and any who follow Him. They took Him out of the schools, workplaces, communities, cities, and governments. They are trying to get rid of God completely; why? Join Reverend Kenny Yates as he opens our eyes to the signs all around us in his message, The Price of Doing and the Cost of Ignoring Pt. 3: We Do Not Want This Man To Reign Over Us.

The Price of Doing and the Cost of Ignoring

We Do Not Want This Man To Reign Over Us

The World Hates Jesus Christ

The whole world is currently shouting, โ€˜We do not want this man to reign over us.โ€™

11 As they heard these things, He proceeded to tell a parable, because He was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. 12 He said therefore, โ€œA nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. 13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, โ€˜Engage in business until I come.โ€™ 14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, โ€˜We do not want this man to reign over us.โ€™

15 When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business. 16 The first came before him, saying, โ€˜Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.โ€™ 17 And he said to him, โ€˜Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.โ€™ 18 And the second came, saying, โ€˜Lord, your mina has made five minas.โ€™ 19 And he said to him, โ€˜And you are to be over five cities.โ€™

20 Then another came, saying, โ€˜Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.โ€™ 22 He said to him, โ€˜I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?โ€™

24 And he said to those who stood by, โ€˜Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.โ€™ 25 And they said to him, โ€˜Lord, he has ten minas!โ€™ 26 โ€˜I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 27 But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.โ€™โ€

Luke 19:11-27

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.

John 1:9-11

Why is the whole world shouting, โ€˜We do not want this man to reign over us;โ€™ because they want to remain in evil instead of entering the light. They don’t want to change or turn from their wicked ways.

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. 18 Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because He has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.

John 3:16-21

This is why the world only shouts, โ€˜We do not want this man to reign over usโ€™ because they desire only evil. They don’t desire the things of God, nor do they desire God Himself. Therefore, we must come out of the world, lest we fall prey to the temptations of the world and we ourselves begin to shout, โ€˜We do not want this man to reign over us.โ€™ The price of doing the work of Christ is eternal life, but the cost of ignoring Christ’s free gift of salvation is losing that chance at eternal life.

We Want This Man To Reign Over Us

Even though the world hates Jesus Christ and His teachings, we must love Christ and follow His commands and we will have eternal life. We can’t give into persecution, fear, or the temptations of this world; we must stand strong that we might receive eternal life with Christ Jesus.

12ย But to all who did receive Him,ย who believed in His name,ย He gave the rightย to becomeย children of God,ย 13ย whoย were born,ย not of bloodย nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12-13

15ย If you love me, you willย keep my commandments.ย 16ย And I will ask the Father, and He will give you anotherย Helper,ย to be with you forever,

John 14:15-16
