Resist The Siren’s Song

11 But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. ~ 1 Timothy 6:11-12NLT

As we get closer to the return of Jesus, the world becomes more and more evil. As the world becomes more evil, the more it becomes enticing. As the world darkens, it will become harder to fight temptation unless we pursue righteousness from now. Unless we train our flesh and run from all manner of evil, the world will one day be able to suck us in.

It’ll become like a siren song that we can’t resist because we didn’t hold tightly to the hope of Eternal Life with God. And if we are drawn away by this siren song, it will only lead to death and destruction. We have to resist while there is time to resist. We have to seek God while He can still be found. We have to build our faith while it is still possible. We have to fight the good fight while we still can.

LORD, help us to fight the good fight and not be distracted by the things of this world. Help us to not take Your salvation and mercy for granted. Help us to spend time talking and listening to You, abiding in You and You in us, so that we can unashamedly proclaim Your goodness and great salvation to all people, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Follow The LORD With All Your Heart

30 Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.’ ~ 1 Samuel 2:30 ESV

God promised that the house of Eli would go in and out before Him forever, but because of their evil, it didn’t happen. In the same manner, God gave Hezekiah an extra 15 years after sending him a death sentence because Hezekiah pleaded with the LORD. This shows that we can change the mind of God by our actions and by our prayers. Our lives don’t have to be set in stone.

If we aren’t on the straight and narrow path that leads to everlasting life, then we can change our path by repenting and asking for God’s forgiveness. This can also be true if we have been given a promise and we refuse to follow the LORD and His instructions. If we remain idle and refuse to move forward and follow the LORD, then His promise that He gave to us will be given to another. Don’t allow yourself to miss out on all that God has in store for you.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Follow The LORD With All Your Heart.

Call On The Word

17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God ~ Ephesians 6:17

The Sword of the Spirit is our greatest weapon. It’s our defensive and offensive weapon. Why? Because the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, and Jesus is the Word of God. He isn’t dead but alive. He is the King of kings and LORD of lords. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the one who was, who is, and who is to come. He is the Word made flesh. Our greatest weapon is the Word of God because it is Jesus. The Word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, because every time we quote Scripture, we are calling on Jesus to come to our rescue.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Call On The Word.

Let The Sins Go

22 For when Herodias’s daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. And the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.” 23 And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.” ~ Mark 6:22-23

King Herod had John the Baptist in prison. He wasn’t a follower nor a believer, but he knew that John was a righteous and holy man. So, King Herod refused to kill him and kept him safe, but because he wasn’t a believer and he didn’t have the Helmet of Salvation on his head to protect him, he was susceptible to the Spirit of Deceit.

Think about it. His niece danced for him, and King Herod was so amazed by this dance that he promised to give her anything she requested, even up to half of his kingdom. What dance is worth half of a man’s kingdom unless there is a spiritual aspect in this? This is how it is today.

When we don’t have our minds protected by the Helmet of Salvation, we are like sitting ducks in the middle of hunting season. We see this all over the world today. People who have the ideas of who God is are still being deceived by the ruler of this world. We are unable to see the deceiver before us when we don’t wear the Helmet of Salvation on our heads. We become like King Herod and get ourselves into the exact situation we were trying to avoid.

So, how do we avoid this? We humble ourselves before the LORD, and we build a relationship with Him by giving up the sins that were holding us back.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Let The Sins Go.

Seek Like Daniel

12 Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.” ~ Daniel 10:12

From the moment we humble ourselves before God and seek His wisdom, He hears us and sends the answer, but that doesn’t mean that’s the moment we get the answer. Because we know God hears us when we call, it’s easy to forget that we’re in a spiritual battle. Daniel received revelation after revelation that we are still trying to decipher to this day. One of his prophecies was used as a sign by Jesus Himself as an important key to the end times and the rapture. Daniel was a man much loved by God; nevertheless, when he prayed, the answer didn’t come immediately. Gabriel, an angel sent by God, was withheld for 21 days by spiritual beings over Persia. If Daniel had given up prayer on day 20, he would have never received his answer.

Today is no different. We are still in a spiritual war. There are still spiritual beings over territories trying to stop us from getting our prayers answered. We still have to put on our spiritual armor and fight that we might receive an answer to our prayers. Today is the National Day of Prayer. It’s a day we take time out from our everyday lives and turn to God. It’s a time that we seek God like Daniel did, that we might see a turn for the better in our generation and in our lifetime.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Seek Like Daniel.

Destroy Your Midianite

17 Attack the Midianites and destroy them, 18 because they assaulted you with deceit and tricked you into worshiping Baal of Peor, and because of Cozbi, the daughter of a Midianite leader, who was killed at the time of the plague because of what happened at Peor. ~ Numbers 25:17-18NLT

When we fall into temptation, it’s difficult to get back up, and usually, it’s because we don’t want to change our surroundings or those who surround us. The people of Israel fell into temptation because of the Midianites, and the only way for them to be able to move forward was to destroy the Midianites who led them astray. Today it’s no different. Today we still have Midianites leading us astray and causing us to worship false gods. They use our ever-changing culture as an excuse to draw us in. They indoctrinate us with lies that cause us to be unable to see ourselves growing sick and spiritually dying like them.

The only way we can truly overcome our sin is to remove the Midianite from our midst. I’m not saying you go out and destroy your tempter or temptation. I’m saying to destroy the friendship or relationship that is constantly dragging you to sin. You can’t hold on to the past as you try to step into the future, or you’ll only fall. You have to purge yourself of the sin around you so that you can move forward into the joy of the LORD.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Destroy Your Midianite.

Redeem Your Harvest

13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. ~ John 14:13–14

God has given you the most effective weapon. Intercessory prayer. God will be in the wrestling match with us if we pray. So, begin to pray and call those things that are not as if they were in the Name of your LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Begin to intercede for that lost loved one. Begin to prophesy to your situation that doesn’t seem to change. Prophesy to the dry bones to live. Begin to proclaim the word of God over every aspect of your life. Shout the promises you were given by God Himself. And look with faith at the investment that seemed to have died a natural death, for it’s beginning to breathe again.

Remember the seed you sowed so long ago? It has sprouted and has grown. You know that relationship at home that you’ve been praying about? Well, it’s about to be restored. Speak it and believe it, for the enemy knows it’s YOUR harvest time, but don’t let him steal it. Don’t give up, just because the enemy has come down with great wrath wanting to steal and destroy your harvest. You are a mighty warrior. Believe it even if no one else does. Live it even if you don’t feel like it. God believes in you, so believe in yourself and in the light of God’s grace.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Redeem Your Harvest.

Fight For Your Harvest

36 And Jacob their father said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children: Joseph is no more, and Simeon is no more, and now you would take Benjamin. All this has come against me.” 37 Then Reuben said to his father, “Kill my two sons if I do not bring him back to you. Put him in my hands, and I will bring him back to you.” 38 But he said, “My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is the only one left. If harm should happen to him on the journey that you are to make, you would bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.” ~ Genesis 42:36–38

Jacob felt like everything was against him, but in fact, God was for him and was working it all out in his favor. His harvest was near. It was so close that he could almost reach out and touch it. Still, Jacob felt like everything was against him. He felt like he couldn’t win for losing. But the truth of the matter was that God was working it all out, even if he couldn’t see it then. He would see his favorite son Joseph again. The same son he had presumed dead for all of those years.

And that is how it is with us sometimes. Maybe you might feel like that.

Maybe you might feel like every time your ship is on the horizon, the fog swoops in, and you lose sight of it? If that is indeed you, don’t turn and walk away. Or maybe your ship is in the harbor, but a storm is brewing and won’t allow your ship to dock? Let me encourage you, don’t give up. Maybe you are under a spiritual attack? Don’t stop praying. Maybe the enemy is attacking you because it is YOUR harvest time. This is the time for you to put on your armor and go to spiritual war and take that which belongs to you.

Those dreams you’ve dreamed for so long are finally here, and it’s time for you to fight. Don’t give up; Pray up. Seek and cry out to Almighty God. He is your refuge. He will never let you sink. Ask, and you will be given; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened.

Prepare for the Spiritual Warfare that is ahead of you. Remember that every time harvest time was near for the people of Israel, the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the people of the East would come up against them and steal their harvest. And as a reminder, you are no different. God doesn’t love you any more or any less than they. He is a God of love and will deliver you out of every situation.

Keep praying. Keep fighting. If you hold on to God, He will hold on to you and bring you through this time of spiritual attack. He will take you to the other side, and you will reap your harvest.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Fight For Your Harvest.

Look At The Big Picture

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. ~ Ephesians 6:12

Did you see that? Paul said we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. He did not say we do not wrestle, period. But instead, he said we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

He wrote that by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. And the way it is written, it expects us to be in the wrestling match. So, he is giving direction on who it is that we are to be wrestling against so that we are not wrestling any and everyone.

    • It is not the driver that just cut us off that we are wrestling against
    • It is not our boss who is a tyrant
    • It is not even the world leaders who are blindly led by an unseen hand to impoverish the world and subjugate every man, woman, and child upon the earth.

It’s the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places that we wrestle and war against. We aren’t in a physical fistfight. We’re in a spiritual struggle for our very souls, and the souls of our loved ones, as well as the souls of those around us. So, whether you’re wrestling or not, you are in the ring, and if you do not fight back, you will be pinned, and your harvest will be taken.

You will be left to wonder why you are never ever able to collect a harvest. And you will not be able to realize what’s going on. So, when you’re discouraged or angry at the situation you are currently in, take a step back and look at the big picture. We’re in a spiritual battle for our soul, Jesus may have overcome the world, but the battle isn’t over yet. It’s now our turn to overcome and fight for our souls and the souls of our loved ones.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Look At The Big Picture.

Fight Like Hannah

8 And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? And why do you not eat? And why is your heart sad? Am I not more to you than ten sons?” 9 After they had eaten and drunk in Shiloh, Hannah rose. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. 10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. ~ 1 Samuel 1:8-10 ESV

There are gonna be people in our lives that don’t understand the desire God has placed on our hearts. It’s not that they don’t love us or they don’t want what’s best for us; it’s that sometimes, that desire isn’t for anyone else but us. Elkanah, Hannah’s husband, loved her and wanted what was best for her, but he didn’t understand the desire God placed in her heart. He didn’t have the same need because he already had children with his other wife. Even though he sought to make her feel better by reminding her of what she had; if Hannah had listened to him, she would have missed out on her miracle.

Sometimes people’s good intentions are a snare for us set by the enemy, and they don’t even realize it. That doesn’t mean Elkanah was evil. The righteous can be deceived and used by the enemy. King David was deceived and used by the enemy. Even God tells Satan that he incited Him against Job for no reason in Job 2:3.

So, when no one else sees or understands your God-given desire, don’t give up. Don’t lie down and go to sleep, accepting this is just how it is, and that’s just an unattainable dream. Go before God, broken and distraught. Bring Him your desires and lay them at His feet. Plead with God that He might give you the desires He has set in your heart, and don’t give up until you have them. Don’t accept less than God has promised you, no matter what anyone tells you or tries to quench the desire in you. Listen to the promises and desires God has given you, and follow them whether they are with you or not. Fight for your God-given desires.

Peace. Love. Go Forth and Fight Like Hannah.
