The Lamb’s Book of Life

The Lamb’s Book of Life is the final book read out of at the Last Judgment. The Book of Life has the names of all who will enter into Eternal Life written in it. This now begs several questions, but two of the most important questions are: How do you get your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life? What happens if your name isn’t written in the Book of Life? The Lamb’s Book of Life

When Are The Names Written In It?

All the names have to be written from before the foundation of the world.

8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

Revelation 13:8

Is This Predestination?

God says He has given us a choice. He says He even called Heaven and Earth as witnesses to this.

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,

Deuteronomy 30:19

Therefore, this cannot be predestination. This means that all the names of everyone who will ever be conceived must be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life from before the foundation of the world. This doesn’t mean that everyone will make it into Heaven because the majority of names will be blotted out by the Last (Final) Judgment.

5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels.

Revelation 3:5

13 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Names Not Written in the Lamb’s Book of Life

At The Last (Final) Judgment, Jesus will open the Book of Life and check to see who’s names are written in it. All whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will spend Eternity in Hell.

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

The Explanation

Many believe that this is evidence that God created Adam and then his first wife, Lilith, and then finally Adam and Eve. This, however, doesn’t match Scripture, nor does this verse hint at that idea. Genesis 1:26-27 is simply saying that God created man first. He created man in His image and likeness. Then God explains that He created Adam and Eve, male and female. This follows the exact order of the Genesis 2 account of the creation of man and woman.

The Laborers in the Vineyard Parable

The Laborers in the Vineyard Parable get reward

Jesus tells many parables throughout His ministry on earth, many pertaining to the numerous analogies of the Kingdom of Heaven. A notable analogy is that of the Laborers in the Vineyard. This parable compares the Kingdom of Heaven to that of a man that owned a vineyard. The owner of the vineyard goes out five times a day to bring in workers. Then, at the end of the day, the owner pays each of the workers the same amount of money no matter what time of day they began working—this confused and upset the first of the workers. Today, we’re still confused by this parable. Who is the master of the vineyard? What is the vineyard? Who are the laborers in the vineyard? And why is each laborer in the vineyard paid the same amount? The Laborers in the Vineyard Parable

Dissecting The Parable

1 For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ 5 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’

8 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ 9 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ 13 But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Who is the Owner of the Vineyard?

God (Jesus) is the owner of the vineyard in the parable.

What is the Vineyard?

The vineyard in the parable represents the world.

Who are the Laborers?

The laborers in the vineyard in the parable are those who harken to the clarion call of Jesus to work in the harvest fields. In other words, those who save souls through the faithful teaching of the word, and the witnessing of those who believe, as well as those who support or help another worker.

What is the Work the laborers did in the vineyard?

1 He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. 2 And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to Him? How are such mighty works done by His hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him. 4 And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” 5 And He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief.

The Sword of the Spirit

What is the Sword of the Spirit?

When we talk about the Sword of the Spirit, we’re referring to the last spiritual weapon given to us by God, through Paul, in the book of Ephesians.

17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

How to activate the Sword of the Spirit?

You have to speak in tongues

To activate the Sword of the Spirit, you have to speak in tongues. This is different than the kind of speaking in tongues, which allows those who hear you speak, hear the words in their own language.

5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. 6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. 7 And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

This is also different than the kind of speaking in tongues that needs to be interpreted by you or another because it is a word from God.

This kind of speaking in tongues is a personal tongue that is specific to your spirit. See, in order to activate the Sword of the Spirit, you have to build up your spirit. If you don’t build up your spirit, your spirit will be to weak to pick up the Sword of the Spirit, let alone wield it with all of its power.

14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. 15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.

Why Do I Need Jesus?

If we could save ourselves, Jesus wouldn’t have needed to die 2,000 years ago, but because we can’t save ourselves, Jesus came to save us.

How Do You Get Salvation?

Can Christians Sin?

Many Christians believe and teach that all you have to do is repent, and life will be easier because once you are saved, you are always saved. In fact, some go as far as to believe that Christians no longer can even sin because they have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. Could this be why we Christians are held to a higher standard than the world? We’re supposed to be Christ to the world, so are we perfect as Jesus is perfect? So then are they right, and Christians are saved from sinning because Jesus said, ‘whom the Son sets free is free indeed’? Or is there something more to it? Can Christians Sin?

Whom The Son Sets Free

Because Jesus said that you will be free if He sets you free, does that mean Christians can’t sin?

36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:36

Jesus didn’t say that you would no longer struggle with sin; He said that you would be free from the bondage of sin. In other words, you would now have the tools you need in order to overcome whatever sin comes your way. But look at what Jesus tells Peter, His best friend, after finding him asleep instead of praying.

The Flesh

41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:41

Both of these Scriptures were spoken by Jesus before His death and resurrection; therefore, none can argue that this verse isn’t for us. Either all of Jesus’ teachings and words were for us, or none of them were. We can’t cherry-pick the Gospel.

In fact, just to prove to you nothing has changed, let’s take a look at the Church after the death and resurrection of Christ.

1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Galatians 6:1

According to Paul, the greatest apostle who ever lived, we are going to stumble and fall. We, the Church (Christians), are going to make mistakes and therefore fall into temptation and sin. But he also gave us hope that our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ will help pick us back up when we fall down, just as Jesus told Peter to do.

31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.

Luke 22:31-32

When we sin, we have to get back up and then go on and help others. We bear each other’s burdens because we can’t carry the weight on our own. We help each other through our struggles and trials. Iron sharpens iron.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin.

8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 6:5-14

We fight temptation through the help of the Holy Spirit that has been given to us through the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ that washes us clean. We have to remember we’re a work in progress, but we also have to remember to never settle for less than perfect. We are to strive for perfection so that if we miss it, we may land amongst excellence, for there is no verse to confirm the false comforts of ‘once saved always saved’.
