The Death Penalty is instated and abided by in many countries all over the world. Many feel that the Death Penalty is an unjust, inhumane, evil law that should be abolished, while others feel that the Death Penalty is a necessary evil that we need to instill so that we can keep order in our countries. We all have opinions about the Death Penalty, but the only opinion that really matters is God’s opinion because, unlike mankind, God is perfect and all of His ways are Just and True. Does The Bible Support The Death Penalty?
16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17
10 If anyone is to be taken captive,
Revelation 13:10
to captivity he goes;
if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.
Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
33 You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.
Numbers 35:33
10 And the LORD said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.”
Genesis 4:10
God cannot turn a blind eye to the shed blood of mankind because the life is in the blood, Leviticus 17:11, therefore our life calls out asking for justice. The only justice for the spilled blood is the murderer’s blood to be spilled. This is why Jesus had to die for our sins because we spiritually murdered ourselves, and our spiritual blood was crying out to God. So Jesus had to come down and take our place. He had to take our death penalty upon Himself so that we could live forever with Him in Eternity.
